Job Summary

Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee’s Director of Marketing, Communications and Events will develop and implement a comprehensive, strategic marketing and communications plan that supports the organization’s positioning as Middle Tennessee’s leader in social-emotional cancer support, grows brand awareness, and results in increased participation, financial support and volunteer leadership. This role is the brand leader and responsible for internal and external marketing communications, media relations, crisis communications and thought leadership contributing to strategic growth of the organization.

This role supports the Development team efforts including corporate engagement strategies and effective collateral material to increase corporate giving, foundation giving, employee giving, event sponsorship and other revenue opportunities.

In collaboration with the President/CEO, Board of Directors and Director of Development, this role contributes to event strategy, and leads execution of event logistics, committee facilitation, and sponsor benefit fulfillment.

THIS IS AN ON-SITE POSITION BASED FROM OUR OFFICES AT 1707 DIVISION STREET, NASHVILLE, TN 37203.

Job Responsibilities

Strategy and Executive Support

·      Collaborate with the CEO as a partner in formulating strategic priorities, board and staff communications, and thought leadership positioning

·      Work with the CEO on an ongoing basis to identify, evaluate, and manage opportunities and risks related to brand positioning, public affairs, advocacy, and crisis communications

·      Support the Board of Directors, publicly and privately, ensuring it has the information and tools needed to successfully steer the organization

·      Support the CEO, publicly and privately, ensuring she has the information and resources necessary to successfully achieve strategic goals and maintain board confidence

Strategic Marketing & Communications Planning and Execution

·      Strategically direct all public relations, marketing, communications, and community outreach efforts in support of the mission and in collaboration with Program and Development team members

·      Support achievement of Program and Development goals through the creation of compelling content and strategic messaging, shared through a variety of channels

·      Liaise with the Board of Directors and Marketing Committee on annual awareness and fundraising strategies and tactics

·      Manage digital and traditional marketing and communications efforts, including, but not limited to:

o   Website

o   Email campaigns

o   Social media

o   Print collateral

o   Community outreach

o   Special events

o   PR / media relations

o   Advertising and / or sponsorships

·      Generate strategies and effective content/packages to increase corporate and foundation engagement and giving, with direct financial impact on corporate giving, employee giving, event sponsorship and other third-party fundraising opportunities that require marketing support

·      Develop a data driven marketing and communications culture by utilizing existing data along with generating new data sources to inform strategic planning

·      Ensure brand and messaging quality and consistency and establish guidelines to apply across all departments, activities and events

·      Manage library of marketing materials and safeguard the Gilda’s Club brand

·      Collaborate with leadership team to develop annual marketing budget

Event Management

·      Plan and implement two existing, major fundraising events each calendar year

·      Support Development and Program teams in planning and execution of other special events

·      Support success of all outreach and fundraising events through development of marketing materials and messaging (invitations, programs, slide shows, media outreach/support, etc.), as needed

·      Collaborate with Development to ensure sponsor benefits and recognition are delivered

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • 7+ years of professional experience in marketing, communications, or public relations
  • Proven ability to create compelling copy in both short- and long-form
  • High level of proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, HTML, social media scheduling software, and email marketing software
  • Experience working with printers, mail houses and other fulfillment partners
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings
