Job Summary

Summary  

The Director of Finance for our Charter School Outreach will maintain the agency’s financial planning, accounting activities, and finance management for Explore Community School (K-3) and East End Prep (K-7); the director sustains the maintenance of financial records; prepares, analyzes, and disseminates financial reports for the both charter schools.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees and directs all budgeting, fund management, and activities related to audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, and corporate records.
  • Directs the custody of funds, securities, and assets.
  • Appraises and monitors the agency’s financial position, issues periodic financial and operating reports, and directs appropriate activities to ensure fiscal stability.
  • Establishes and directs procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to ensure adequate accounting controls and services.
  • Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and oversees agency payables and receivables.
  • Maintains all financial accounts, journals, and records of business transactions.
  • Analyzes information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital; prepares balance sheets, revenue and expense statements, and other reports necessary to summarize current and projected financial positions.
  • Coordinates and oversees annual audit and issuance of annual and periodic financial reports.
  • Provides leadership and support to Center and Martha O’Bryan Foundation, treasurers and board finance/investments committees, and agency management staff in areas that relate to budgeting, financial and asset management, fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the recruitment, placement, and orientation of Board support to the Finance Committee.
  • Provides leadership for financial feasibility studies related to program expansion and development; coordinates short and long term financial strategic planning.
  • Contributes to the team effort by participating in meetings, functions, and special activities of the agency.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reviews and reconciles pension and medical benefits as billed by MNPS
  • Files all applications for Title, SPED and grant funding
  • Works in partnership with School Directors and Director of Operations and is direct support to Chief Talent Officers.
  • Managing relationships with the authorizer (MNPS) for all fiscal and fiscal compliance matters.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • 7-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPA license required; or public accounting experience preferred.
