Job Summary
The Director of Development is responsible for revenue development, communications, marketing, and events for TNFP. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Development (DD) leads development and fundraising operations by planning, coordinating, and engaging the philanthropic community and other revenue sources to advance the strategic priorities of TNFP. In this position, the DD will spend 50% of their time meeting with prospects, donors, and community leaders to advance the fundraising goals of TNFP. The DD is also responsible for managing the Development Team, which consists of a Development Manager, a Communications Manager, and an Events Manager.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership to establish and meet overall revenue development strategies
- Oversee all fundraising activities, including annual giving, corporate and foundation giving, individual giving, sponsorships, and special events
- Maintain an active portfolio of current and prospective donors, and coordinate relationship responsibilities with the CEO, board, and others as needed
- Meet personal metric goals (e.g., significant contacts, proposals delivered, and dollars raised)
- Develop and manage a major gifts program, including researching and cultivating prospects, and creating corresponding cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for donors
- Develop and execute a comprehensive annual development plan
- Establish ambitious fundraising goals for and set appropriate metrics to ensure attainment
- Collaborate across the organization to align donor interests with organizational priorities
- Coordinate with program directors to implement strategies to increase engagement and philanthropic support among current and prospective donors
- Maintain accurate, timely information in the CRM, including call reports
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective donors to support TNFP’s giving societies
- Support Development Manager in identifying opportunities for foundation, corporate, and community partners for sponsorships, funding, and goods and services
- Oversee TNFP’s branding, messaging, and graphic design suite
- Oversee preparation of all marketing and communications materials
- Oversee management of social media, print collateral, and annual reports
- Lead the promotion of TNFP in the community, including contributions of board members, partner organizations, and individuals
- Support the Communications Manager in developing a comprehensive communications plan
- Oversee TNFP facilities rental social enterprise
- Support the Events Manager in the planning, design, and execution of all fundraising events
- Lead, coach, and support the Development Team to accomplish individual and team goals
- Set clear expectations and promote high levels of accountability and performance
- Serve as a role model by exemplifying the highest standards of professionalism and integrity
Qualifications
- 7-10 years of nonprofit development experience, including demonstrated success in face-to-face fundraising
- Proficient with at least one standard development CRM
- A successful track record in setting priorities and achieving results
- Keen organizational, analytic, and problem-solving skills
- Exemplary communication skills, interpersonal skills, and professionalism
- Strong interest in, or experience with, anti-poverty and/or food justice work
- Background experience in culinary arts, food service management, and/or agriculture
