Job Summary

Director of Development

The Director of Development is responsible for supporting the mission of The Well by generating new leads of interested individuals and businesses as well as deepening currently established relationships to accomplish the financial needs of the organization. Working closely with the CEO, this highly relational and networked team member guides the development work at The Well in accordance with short term and long term goals empowering The Well to move forward in its mission to feed more hungry families. The Development Director is a full time role and reports directly to the CEO.

Job Responsibilities

Leadership Tasks

  • Directly manage the growing portfolio of individual donors at The Well, providing care and timely interaction to deepen those relationships 
  • Follow up on leads in a timely manner looking to establish or deepen donor relationships
  • Oversee the execution of digital campaigns, including email, social media and special events 
  • Develop a strategic plan around the donor management system and the integration of donor data into strategic fundraising efforts
  • Assist in the growth of  food related opportunities: Food Drives and Mobile Food Pantries
  • Assist in the coordination of fundraising events, taking lead on one of the three annual fundraisers. 

Administrative Work

  • Weekly data management of all donations and reporting
  • In coordination with bookkeeper generate weekly lead sheet
  • Coordinate timing of email and social media campaigns

  • Knowledgeable and experienced at donor management, making “Big Asks”, and running social media and email campaigns
  • Knowledgeable and experienced at effective fundraising events
  • Passionate about feeding the hungry and seeing lives changed
  • Generous servants heart who enjoys serving in collaboration with other staff (team player)

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, applicants with a Master’s Degree will be prioritized
  • Minimum of 3 years development experience required
  • Ministry and nonprofit experience a plus
