Job Summary
Consistent with the university’s strategic plan, this position will pursue fundraising opportunities for other university priorities as they develop and as appropriate to match donor interest to university need.
Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 10,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 150,287 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan and execute a development plan, which includes identification, cultivating, solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors ($10,000+), while working independently or collaboratively with volunteers.
- Manage a major gift prospect base of between 100-125 qualified major gift prospects including those top prospects requiring attention from the APSU President or College of Business Dean
- Execute 20 contacts per month with at least half being personal, direct contact.
- Document contacts and adhere to policies and procedures for accepting, recording and acknowledging gifts.
- Work closely with Alumni, Advancement and Public Relations offices to maximize the fundraising potential of the university through participation in events or meetings.
- Attend university athletic events as deemed necessary for fundraising outcomes.
- Stewardship of endowment scholarships for designated college and/or program.
- -Provide leadership to APSU Foundation as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Fundraising, Business, Marketing, or sales experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; negotiation skills, proven success in goal achievement.
- Results-oriented with professional characteristics that include leadership, commitment to confidentiality, flexibility, team-orientation, attention to detail and sensitivity to the stewardship of long-term relationships.
- Experience cultivating and maintaining donors in a mission-driven organization.
- Experience cultivatiing and securing gifts and/or individual donors.
- Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer.
- Ability to travel extensively (40% of the time), including overnight and occasional weekends
