Job Summary
The Director of Development (DOD) is a key leader of Porter’s Call and is responsible for overseeing all
fundraising and development initiatives for the organization. The DOD is a full-time, exempt position
that reports to the Co-Executive Directors. The DOD will shadow the Founder and will be trained and
onboarded by him in the DOD duties. The position can be worked remotely but must be based in the
Nashville area. The DOD will be in the office frequently for staff meetings and other related events.
Job Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development
● Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for securing sustainable funding
● Assume overall responsibility for all fundraising, including corporate partnerships, individual
giving, major gifts, special events, annual giving, and peer-to-peer campaigns
● Identify donor prospects, cultivate and solicit individual, corporate, and foundation donors;
steward and build strong relationships
● Build and grow corporate partnership program
● Grow annual recurring giving program for individual donors
● Manage and grow annual fundraising event Evening of Stories
● Recruit and manage a volunteer committee for Evening of Stories
● Establish new fundraising events or campaigns that engage a new audience
● Conceptualize and execute stewardship events
● Research grant opportunities; develop and submit proposals
● Develop and implement a comprehensive donor relations plan
Leadership
● Develop and maintain a 3-5 year strategic fundraising plan that aligns with the overall vision
for Porter’s Call; develop annual measurable objectives to support reaching goals
● Establish and oversee development operations policies, procedures, and best practices
● In collaboration with the Founder and Co-Executive Directors, lead and develop the board of
directors, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention specifically related to
fundraising
● Build a young professionals board and artist advisory circle
Marketing
● In collaboration with the Office Manager, develop and implement a comprehensive
marketing and PR strategy
● Create a strong presence for Porter’s Call in the music industry
● Develop relevant content for social media and external communications
● Oversee creation and distribution of digital newsletters and annual impact reports
Operations
● Develop an annual fundraising/development budget
● In collaboration with Co-Executive Directors, assist in developing annual revenue goals
● Prepare monthly development reports/revenue projections
● Ensure all donor records/files are maintained and kept confidential
● Maintain accurate grant records and submit reports as required by funders
● Perform other duties as assigned by the Founder and Co-Executive Directors
Qualifications
Job Qualifications
● At least five years of progressive experience in fundraising including a record of success in
expanding a donor base through cultivation and stewardship, event
planning/implementation, and board management
● Must respect the faith-based origin of Porter’s Call
● Superior persuasive writing and presentation skills
● Superior initiative and drive for results
● Must travel, use a personal cell phone, and work evenings and weekends as necessary to
accomplish job responsibilities
