Job Summary

The Development Director will be responsible for securing annual gifts and qualifying prospective major gifts, planned gifts, event sponsorship prospects, and grant opportunities in support of the organization’s annual financial budget.  This position will initially be structured  as a contract  employee position for a period of up to 9 months and will report to the Executive Director.

Job Responsibilities

The Development Director will be responsible for:

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of 200-300 individuals, businesses, and other nonprofits capable of making annual gifts of $100 – $5,000.  Cultivate, solicit, and steward these donors / prospects by focusing on personal relationships.
  • Qualify new prospects through current donor / prospects research, personal visits, phone call, texts, emails, etc.
  • Identify existing donors with the capacity to make larger gifts, develop and implement strategies to cultivate these relationships into major gift donors.
  • Tract all donor / prospect interactions through a proven data base management system.
  • Develop and present to the Executive Director recommendations for use of social media to educate and promote the values, mission, objectives and history of WCHA providing opportunities for individuals to move from homelessness to permanent housing and a new future.

Qualifications

The qualifications required for consideration for this position are:

  • A Bachelor Degree in business administration, marketing or nonprofit management.
  • One to Three years’ experience in fundraising management for nonprofit organization
  • Strong communication and interpersonal relations skills
  • Demonstrated ability to present WCHA’s story in a clear and effective manner to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Consistent attention to detail, high level of productivity, solution-oriented performance.
  • Responsive to both Executive Director and donors’ issues.
  • Intrinsically motivated and ability to work with limited direct supervision.
