Job Summary
The ideal candidate will be a high-impact, self-starter with an entrepreneurial drive plus a proven track record working in non-profit ministry work.
The Development Director will work closely with the Well CEO and Board of Directors to develop fundraising goals and strategies that align with the organization’s mission and values.
Job Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities include:
The development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising plan that will include major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events.
Identifying and cultivating major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors, and planning and executing special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
Leading Development team providing guidance, training, and support as needed. This includes setting goals and expectations for individual team members, monitoring performance, and providing feedback to ensure that fundraising goals are met or exceeded.
The Development Director will work closely with our CEO and Communications team to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials. This will involve developing compelling messages that resonate with potential donors, creating donor recognition programs, and crafting targeted appeals that drive donations.
The Development Director will collaborate closely with the Well CEO to develop fundraising strategies and goals that align with the organization’s mission and values. This will involve presenting fundraising plans and performance metrics to the Board of Directors and CEO to ensure that fundraising activities are aligned with the organization’s overall strategic plan.
Monitoring and Analyzing Fundraising to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed. This will involve tracking donor engagement and retention rates, analyzing revenue streams, and making data-driven decisions that help the organization achieve its fundraising goals.
Other Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills plus excellent writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Strong Leadership and management skills:
Managing and leading a team of fundraising professionals. This requires the ability to set goals and expectations, motivate team members, and provide guidance and support as needed.
Demonstrated ability to work Collaboratively:
The Development Director must be able to work collaboratively with colleagues, Board members, and volunteers to achieve fundraising goals. This role will require excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse groups of people.
Experience with fundraising software and donor databases:
This is a critical qualification that includes proficiency with popular fundraising software such as Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or DonorPerfect, as well as experience with donor databases and online fundraising platforms. The ability to analyze and interpret data from these systems will be essential for making informed decisions and developing effective fundraising strategies. Virtuous CRM is a plus.

The Development Director must be a strategic thinker, with the ability to identify challenges and opportunities and develop creative solutions to meet fundraising goals. They must be able to think critically and make data-driven decisions that help the organization achieve its objectives.
Flexibility and Adaptability
The Development Director must be flexible and adaptable and be able to adjust fundraising strategies in response to changing circumstances or unexpected events. They must be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining a positive and solutions-oriented approach.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management or a related field, a minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership and management skills, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, experience with fundraising software and donor databases, a deep commitment to the organization’s mission and values, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, and flexibility and adaptability.
