Job Summary
St. Bernard Academy (Nashville, TN) seeks an experienced Director of Advancement to implement development, stewardship, and communications programs for the school. This role will advance the mission of St. Bernard Academy by cultivating and securing outside financial support, developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and community partners, managing the donor database, and managing gift acknowledgment processes. The Director of Advancement directs and manages all external school communications and assists in various school initiatives. The Director of Advancement reports to the Head of School and manages the Advancement Services Coordinator (full-time) and Data Coordinator (part-time) staff members.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Development
- Manage and direct the school’s Annual Fund
- Manage and direct capital campaigns, restricted gift funds, and event fundraising
- Manage the donor database and all gift acknowledgment processes
- Create and implement a donor identification and engagement strategy to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors in an effort to grow the school’s donor base, increase donor retention, and strengthen the school’s relationships with donors
- Manage and direct community stewardship programs for school parents and school alumni.
- Create and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on long-term growth including generating income from donors, sponsors, grants, planned giving, and capital project/campaign giving.
- Meet with potential donors to discuss giving opportunities and make fundraising asks.
- Manage Veracross, the school’s CRM database, including timely gift processing and donor acknowledgment
Strategic Planning
- Promote understanding, acceptance, and support of the vision mission statement, and objectives of St. Bernard Academy.
- Set and strategize priorities to meet annual goals.
- Partner with the Home School Association to coordinate fundraising efforts and timing of events/campaigns.

- Co-manage an Advancement Committee in partnership with a Board Member appointee to set and achieve
goals. - Support team initiatives that advance the mission of the school as directed by the Head of School.
Communications
- Set and maintain professional writing and design standards for school communication including, but not limited to, print publications, annual reports, marketing materials, and newsletters.
- Create and implement an annual fundraising calendar for the school, including fundraisers, campaigns, and donor engagement events.
- Manage school website, social media, email, and weekly newsletter.
- Manage and direct external communications and team collaboration for school marketing.
- Create and implement a comprehensive internal marketing and communication strategy to engage current and potential parents, and grow brand awareness/enrollment.
Qualifications
Position requirements: Candidates will be expected to have an undergraduate and/or advanced degree and have 2+ years of experience in professional fundraising, donor database management, digital communications, and volunteer coordination. Experience with Veracross (student information services and donor development database) will be strongly considered.

Benefits
Compensation – This is a full-time, 12-month position working on campus in administrative offices. Salary is dependent upon education and experience. Benefits include a tuition remission plan for children of employees, health and dental insurance, worker’s compensation, short-term and long-term disability, group life insurance, and a retirement plan.
