Nashville Rescue Mission is actively seeking a Director to manage and lead our Guest Services Ministry. 

This Director provides comprehensive leadership and supervision of our Guest Services team working across our Men’s and Women’s Campuses. This position reports to the Senior Director of Ministries and is an integral part of leading the ministry to guests in need of help and hope.

Job Responsibilities

You are an inspiring leader, coach, and teacher, while also being a solid team player

You set the tone for a “whatever it takes” attitude for the department to establish a respective culture to the guest experience. You provide comprehensive leadership and supervision to a large team working across two different campuses. You oversee all in-house training for the guest services team, including first aid, CPR, Narcan, and passive self-defense and restraint techniques. You build supportive relationships with other leaders across the organization. You work cooperatively across departments (support, recovery, education, and administrative services), especially with case management services, as both teams work directly with guests. 

You are compassionate, empathetic, and intuitive

You set the tone for a counseling culture, ensuring guests receive robust services with patience, dignity, and honor. You make sure guests are welcomed and shown compassion and empathy. Your goal is to provide guests with a safe, secure, and clean environment while offering them hope. You troubleshoot grievances and guide supervisors on proactively handling guest complaints, incident reporting, concerns, and problem areas. You can read behavior, pick up on cues, and address issues using gentle, loving, and direct methods. You have a heart to see people grow and transition into the life God has planned for them.

You have strong communication, administrative, and organizational skills

You attend department head meetings, communicate clearly and thoroughly, and collaborate with other departments and programs as needed. You can deliver written or verbal reports of program progress and attend board meetings when requested to give updates. You maintain guest records and make sure all statistics reporting is accurate, including monthly overtime and shift coverage reporting. You can prepare and submit incident reports, maintenance requests, and communicate unusual conditions to the Senior Director of Ministries and/or Operations when appropriate. You are responsible for maintaining policy manuals and submit any suggestions or necessary changes to the Senior Director of Ministries for approval. 

You are innovative and constantly looking for ways to improve

You are focused on the improvement of Key Performance Indicator metrics (KPI) and outcome development. You are resourceful in finding and providing your team with materials, resource guides, and other supportive tools to finding help in Middle Tennessee so they may accurately and efficiently supply guests with community support and direction. You encourage and provide continuous attention to staff performance development, conduct and/or delegate performance evaluations of all Guest Services staff while identifying gap areas in performance in need of corrective action and/or counseling, up to and including termination.

You maintain the confidentiality of all data, including guests, employees, and operational data. You can confidently and boldly share your reason for HOPE.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of ministry related experience; or an Associate’s degree with five (5) or more years of experience; or on the job training of over seven (7) years, with recognized experience.
  • Five (5) years of management experience required.
  • Must have a committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ and belong to a Christian body of believers.
  • Must agree with and sign Nashville Rescue Mission’s Statement of Christian Faith and be able to share that faith and knowledge with staff and guests.
  • Must have excellent and demonstrated interpersonal relations and both written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to qualify as a Designated Mission Vehicle driver under NRM insurance policy:
    • Valid Tennessee Drivers License
    • Have no more than two moving violations in a 3-year period or more than one accident in a 1-year period
    • Proof of insurance on personal vehicle (current)
    • Physical driving test
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, computer input, and database management.

RETIREMENT

Let us help you save for the future. Nashville Rescue Mission contributes 3% of an employee’s earnings after they have completed their first year of service. If you decide to contribute to the plan as well, you will enjoy a 50% match on contributions from 1% to 6%.
