Job Summary

Buchanan Arts, a newly-formed nonprofit providing art education opportunities in North Nashville, seeks candidates to serve as Director in charge of community outreach and fundraising beginning January 2023. Since launching in May 2021, Buchanan Arts has provided visual arts adult continuing education and young artists programming through classes and weekend workshops. Initial connections with donors, patrons and programming collaborators from around the Nashville community have been established. Buchanan Arts seeks to expand services, patronage and partnerships as well as increase general public awareness of our program. The new Executive Director must demonstrate a committed belief in the cultural and personal value of visual art opportunities for everyone, and be willing to vigorously advocate for arts programming to potential patrons and community collaborators.

Job Responsibilities

Public Relations

-expand the visibility, brand recognition and community awareness of Buchanan Arts through media programming (including online social media), as well as other branding and marketing opportunities

-serve as the primary public spokesperson for Buchanan Arts within the Nashville community


-develop and implement Buchanan Arts fundraising strategy in collaboration with board members, staff and volunteers

-help target resources and increase financial capacity to establish Buchanan Arts in the community as well as place emphasis on a trajectory toward future growth


Interested candidates should be able to demonstrate successful experience in public relations, fundraising and general community outreach. Candidates with experience working in an administrative or organizational role within a nonprofit or similar community-based program will be given preference. The successful candidate must possess a firm commitment to the value of the visual arts in communities and the lives of individuals and the ability to advocate those beliefs.
