Job Summary

The Development Officer provides direct support for all development functions. This position works with the Executive Director, Director of Development and Foundation Board in the execution of annual fundraising plans, including campaigns, events, donor research and cultivation, and database management. The Development Officer works collaboratively across college departments while stewarding relationships with new and existing donors. This position contributes significantly to the growth and sustainability of resources through effective communication of the needs of the students and programs at the college.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain business and community relationships throughout Nashville State’s nine county service area.
  • Communicate regularly with current and prospective donors through meetings, phone calls, emails and other means.
  • Ensure appropriate correspondence with volunteers and donors (i.e. meeting announcements, thank you letters, etc.)
  • Participate in community and donor networking opportunities.
  • Establish, implement and maintain processes for database maintenance and assure entry of data.
  • Assist with research of prospective individual and corporate donors as well as public and private grant funders.
  • Work with the College’s marketing department to create and maintain messaging that actively promotes the College and all Foundation events and activities.
  • Provide assistance with office operations. Coordinate with and assist other development staff.
  • Acquire and maintain current knowledge of public activities and internal projects, policies and procedures of the College and Foundation.
  • Participate in community activities to promote the college and build relationships that contribute to private giving and general support of the College.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum two years’ related experience
  • Experience with CRM software (especially Raiser’s Edge) and social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, special events and/or communications marketing
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to articulate the fundraising goals of the College to the public
