Job Summary
The Breakthrough T1D Georgia & South Carolina chapter, based in Atlanta, GA is seeking qualified candidates for a Development Manager position to support the Atlanta Market. High donor interface and strong volunteer management skills are a must. The Development Manager works closely with the Development Director and chapter colleagues, regional teams, national partners, the Georgia board of directors, donors, and volunteers to positively impact our fundraising success in Georgia and to grow market presence by way of relationship development with both individuals, families impacted with T1D, corporate supporters, volunteers, and major donors.
This Development Manager will be responsible for the planning, development, and execution of our signature fundraising events while supporting all other chapter activities.
This is a hybrid position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Job Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under the direction of the Executive Director and Development Director, this position is responsible for the planning and implementation of the Breakthrough T1D’s Signature Events (including Hope Gala, and Real Estate Games) with a revenue target of over $2M annually.
- In partnership with the Community Engagement manager, build and staff the Young Leadership Committee and serve as lead staff for fundraising initiatives (ie. Rock the Cure.)Collaborate with an outstanding team of chapter staff as well as national/regional staff resources to ensure the Chapter’s revenue growth and success, discuss best practices, and share new ideas.
- Lead the development and delivery of chapter signature event fundraising strategies and key performance indicators, benchmarks, and best practices in the areas of fundraising and donor development, volunteer, and guest experience.
- Analyze all gala revenue streams, including corporate sponsorship, table/ticket sales, Fund A Cure, and auctions to maximize fundraising capacity.
- Identify, build, and steward relationships with community, civic, and corporate leaders as an integral part of volunteer and donor prospect development and activation across all Breakthrough T1D fundraising programs.
- Personally responsible for managing and growing revenue of a portfolio of corporate and individual supporters.
- Manage and continually develop assigned volunteer committees providing leadership, cultivation, acknowledgment, material support, and assistance in building and implementing fundraising committees.
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records for areas of responsibility and help ensure that the logistics and budget/timelines are met.
- Led the management and marketing of the supporting Signature events activities, including research events, major donor meetings, committee meetings, auction procurement, and other ancillary activities, as directed.
- Provide administrative support to ensure print materials and web presence, mailing and guest lists, event signage, and constituent communications are all up to date.
- Assist in identifying, cultivating, and stewarding table hosts and their guests, corporate sponsors, and major donors.
- Ensure personal accountability for meeting deadlines, calendar invites, and follow-up notes, as well as responding to volunteers and other department requests.
- Identify, build, and steward relationships with community, civic, and corporate leaders as an integral part of volunteer and donor prospect development and engagement in Breakthrough T1D activities.
- Input and use donor management systems daily including CRM (Salesforce), Greater Giving, and Luminate Online (Training is provided for these but must be willing to use the systems).
- Be passionate about the Breakthrough T1D mission and ambitious to maximize potential.
- Serve as a team player for all other Breakthrough T1D events, activities, and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- The position requires individuals to reside in the greater Atlanta Metro area.
- Four+ years of fundraising experience or relevant business/volunteer experience. CFRE is a plus.
- Knowledge of both special event and non-event fundraising activities (major gifts, stewardship, etc.) is a must.
- Must be a self-starter while also being collaborative and an amazing team player!
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
- Significant computer literacy.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
- Ability to travel locally required. Occasional evening and weekend work is required as needed.
