Nonprofit Development Director – Job Description 

 

If you are looking for a nonprofit genuinely creating higher wages and wealth for women and particularly women of color across the US, UK and Canada, keep reading. RTSWS is GROWING and this is your chance to jump on board. 

 

We are looking for a seasoned professional Development Director who will be responsible for organizing and executing our foundation and corporate giving appeals. The Engagement Director is responsible for executing high-volume outreach with current and prospective donors for cultivation, engagement, and direct solicitation of gifts of $25,000 and larger.

 

Using creative tactics and taking an entrepreneurial approach, this front-line role identifies opportunities to strengthen relationships between corporate partners and the organization for long-term support through outreach and conversation. This work is critically important to developing RTSWS’ major and planned pipeline and providing unrestricted support for individual schools and general operating support of the organization. The qualified candidate will work with various foundations and our corporate giving team to secure funding. They will assist team members in developing and maintaining donor relationships and securing new ones.

 

Who We Are

General Responsibilities:

 

Engage and Cultivate Loyal Donors and Prospective Donors Through High-Volume, Thoughtful Personalized Outreach

  • Manage a large portfolio of current or prospective donors for solicitation, stewardship, and occasional cultivation through personalized outreach via phone, email, and virtual meetings.
  • Directly steward milestone gifts (reaching 5, 10, 15 years of giving, or surpassing $25k, $50k) through thoughtful outreach with personalized content to illustrate the impact of the donor’s gift.

 

Plan and Execute the Grantmaking Process

  • Research and evaluate new funding opportunities
  • Highly Organized 
  • Strategic planner, taking into account our organization’s calendar
  • Determine hard deadlines 
  • Create a proposal task list 
  • Be realistic and continue to refine 
  • Research grants that are in alignment 
  • Effectively format, communicate, and construct LOI’s and grants aligned to specific Foundation guidelines 
  • “Give good phone” as we develop long lasting relationships with foundations and top American, Canadian and UK corporations

 

RTSWS Grant Writing and Reporting

  • Deliver high-impact and compelling proposals, reports, LOIs, and grants 
  • Manage reporting to grantor foundations
  • Manage documents related to grant submissions
  • Collaborate with team and study RFPs and KPI’s to craft comprehensive funding requests 
  • Clearly and concisely communicate opportunities and validate need 
  • Ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of successful grant awards

 

RTSWS Corporate Giving – A corporate giving program is an initiative where companies give their time, money, or resources to a charity, foundation, or NGO

 

  • Plan and work, train and develop our Corporate Giving Team
  • Plan and work with Corporate Social Responsibility and PR teams from investment, accounting firms, exchanges, and banks on the benefits of providing both funding and volunteers to RTSWS

 

Enhance Departmental Performance Standards By

  • Performing as a team player
  • Maintaining a level of reliability that generates stability in the department
  • Meeting or exceeding department performance standards
  • Fostering a spirit of cooperation

 

Contribute to Departmental Efficiency By

  • Understanding and effectively communicating departmental policy and procedures
  • Communicating concerns and questions to supervisor and staff
  • Soliciting guidance from supervisor and co-workers when uncertainty arises
  • Conveying thoughts to supervisor on improving departmental performance
  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • Diligently and appropriately track all activity, relationships, and donations using Salesforce. This is a nonstarter if you are not familiar with Salesforce. Please don’t apply. Establish Oneself as a Knowledgeable Staff Member By

Qualifications

REQUIRED: 

  • Passionate about our mission
  • History of leadership positions
  • Sales background
  • Closer 
  • At least 7 years of experience in grant writing 
  • At least 7 years of experience in supervising teams 
  • Is knowledgeable and comfortable working in Salesforce
  • Accustomed to working with a variety of stakeholders 
  • Very strong presentation, writing and speaking skills
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Business, Logistics, Sales or a related field.
