Job Summary

The Development Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and increasing revenue for the Child Advocacy Center through organizing fundraising events and soliciting investors and funders.  The coordinator works closely with the director and accountant to determine funding priorities and develop the message content that will be marketed to investors and funders.  Funds will be raised for the program services, facility, equipment, and capital.  This role is about transforming the lives of the children and families we serve and the lives of the investors who get to play a role in this transformation.  The coordinator works as a team with the director and staff to fulfill the goals and objectives of the Center.

Job Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

Planning

  • Meet with the accountant and director to determine funding priorities
  • Develop an annual development strategic plan

Fundraising Event Management

  • Develop and implement an annual fundraising event plan
  • Lead the fundraising event committees, set meeting dates, and develop meeting agendas
  • Organize fundraising events and special events like the Holiday Open House
  • Ensure the profitability of fundraising events by securing sponsorships, in-kind contributions, and support

Soliciting Investors and Funders

  • Work closely with the director, accountant, and event committees to identify and recruit donor prospects
  • Develop new donor prospects
  • Present new donors with opportunities to invest in program services, facilities, equipment, and capital
  • Attend community meetings, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, and Cable to network
  • Develop good working relationships with donors
  • Invoice donors that request to be invoiced
  • Write solicitation letters, and emails, and develop presentations for prospective donors
  • Print and stuff solicitation letters
  • Accept in-kind donations
  • Thank you letters to donors

Marketing and Brand Awareness

  • Develop the message content that will be marketed to potential investors and funders
  • Develop a portfolio of information to utilize with prospective investors and funders
  • Develop social media content about development and fundraising events

Network for Good Donor Database

  • Maintain the Network for Good donor database for Rutherford and Cannon Counties
  • Maintain event databases for Hometown Heroes Walk, Cannon Runs, Light Up the Night, Turkey Tee-Off

Public Relations, Media, and Marketing

  • Submit press releases about fundraising events to the grant writer for edits
  • Respond to radio and television requests about events
  • Submit development information for the monthly emailed newsletter
  • Maintain the website events and donate now pages
  • Develop flyers about fundraising events

Administrative

  • Accept checks at presentations on behalf of the Child Advocacy Center
  • Create agency fundraising event flyers
  • Mail Christmas cards to event sponsors and major donors
  • Board follow-up calls for meetings
  • Purchase supplies needed for events

Volunteer Supervision and Coordination:

  • Interview, screen, train, supervise, and evaluate development volunteers
  • Supervise clerical, United Way Day of Action, and clean-up day event volunteers

Reporting

  • Compile development statistical reports for the Board of Directors, grants, funding sources, and CACTN

Supervision

  • Attend regular supervision meetings, staff meetings, in-service training and conferences, and other meetings and training as requested
  • Follow Child Advocacy Center policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned in a timely manner

  • Excellent written and spoken English including high-quality verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize multiple tasks, and remain calm and focused under pressure
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
  • Must have reliable transportation with current Tennessee driver’s license, automobile insurance, and safe driving record
  • Formal development experience is not necessary, through a strong “sales” background is strongly preferred

Education and Experience

  • B.S. or B.A. with experience in development, sales, business, marketing, or public relations
  • Demonstrated maturity and experience

Special Requirements

  • Must pass a thorough TBI background check, FBI fingerprint background check, and Department of Children’s Services record check
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel in Rutherford and Cannon Counties to work
