Job Summary

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving, the Development Coordinator is a key member of the Association Philanthropy YMCA team. S/he will provide staff leadership for the Annual Giving Campaign and year-round efforts for the YMCA of Middle Tennessee with a focus on major gifts support. Working in a team environment s/he will help develop and implement the annual fundraising plan and work to accomplish goals therein.

Job Responsibilities

  • Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Model and puts in practice behavior that supports inclusion and diversity
  • Support moves management processes in Raisers Edge (opportunities and actions) gathering/entering updates
  • Assist with managing prospect assignments, implementing established prospect clearance processes amongst multiple YMCA centers and campaigns
  • Assist with prospect research and screenings collaborating with cross functional teams as needed
  • Prepare reports and develop basic PowerPoint presentations for staff and volunteer meetings and trainings
  • Support corporate sponsorship program ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of sponsorship benefits
  • Provide support as needed for the community campaign effort and/or other fundraising events and initiatives in our YMCA centers
  • Provide administrative support for the philanthropy department including but not limited to supporting special events, scheduling meetings, reserving meeting space/virtual meetings, managing RSVP’s, coordinating catering, taking and distributing minutes
  • Provide leadership support to key Association leadership groups such as the Philanthropy Impact Team, Annual Giving Campaign Chair/Vice Chair, and the Association Annual Giving Center/Program Chairs/Co-Chairs

An enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants and staff to create a culture of service

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends on special occasions
  • Experience with Raisers Edge or other similar CRM software programs preferred
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Four year college degree in a related field or comparable work experience in nonprofit development, administration, and/or event coordination
  • Minimum two years working in a non-profit environment or related field
