Job Summary

Network for Sustainable Solutions (NSS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, creating an action-driven network, focused on the sustainability of Tennessee. We bring organizations, businesses, government, community groups, and people together to form a unified network. Through this digital platform, NSS offers networking and facilitation events, accessible consulting programs, sustainable job promotion and local community development. NSS’s mission: To enrich people and planet by strengthening connections across disciplines to leverage and accelerate sustainable action.

NSS is seeking a part time Development Manager to help grow the organization, alongside the Board of Directors. This position’s primary goal is to establish resilience across financial, operational, and community functions. This role has the opportunity to grow into a full-time leadership position with the organization, as the Board of Directors will review goals set together with the chosen candidate over time. NSS is looking for a candidate who is invested in the long-term growth of a grass-roots organization, and that can tackle challenging local problems while working independently.

 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Advance the organization’s digital resource directory, expanding NSS’s network
  • Establish a realistic budget for operations and account for anticipated fundraising outcomes
  • Assume full responsibility for various fundraising efforts including corporate sponsorships, grants, program offerings, and prospective donors
  • Coordination of existing fundraising efforts and development of new fundraising goals, working to achieve and surpass these goals
  • Management and coordination of programs, including the development of new offerings
  • Day-to-day administrative duties, developing organizational process improvement alongside the board of directors
  • Recruit and manage volunteers, committee members, and supporters
  • Organize and administer social media campaigns alongside the Board of Directors
  • Assist with donor communications, including preparation of gift acknowledgements 
  • Become proficient on all office systems, such as: Google Drive, Squarespace, Quickbooks, Hootsuite, MarketGrabber, etc.

 

Qualifications

  • College degree in a related field (e.g., sustainability, organizational leadership, nonprofit management, social entrepreneurship, marketing, communications, or other relevant major). 
  • An effective communicator in written and oral form 
  • Detail-oriented and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Work ethic that prioritizes proactivity versus reactivity
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental justice
  • Well organized, proactive, flexible and dedicated to improving systems processes with a entrepreneurship mindset
  • Technical computer skills, with ingenuity to figure out a function if not previously known
  • Able to tackle challenging local issues while working independently 
  • Brings a unique perspective and lived experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in community organizing, nonprofit development, and/or fundraising
  • Experience planning events and fundraisers
  • Experience with brand promotion across diverse audiences

Benefits

Location: Nashville, TN

Part Time: 20-25 hrs/week, 6-month contract position with potential to extend

Compensation: $18-$27/hr, depending on experience
