POSITION SUMMARY

The Development and Communications Director will develop, implement, evaluate, and manage the fundraising and communication plans/schedules in accordance with the core values, mission, and vision of Begin Anew.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising and communications plan
  • Support and partner with the Executive Director on all major fundraising initiatives
  • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors
  • Execute strategies for a large sustained base of annual individual donors to include but not limited to Peer to Peer fundraising, monthly giving, and mid-year/year-end campaigns
  • Work with volunteers, overseeing organization and implementation of special fundraising events
  • Research foundation/grant opportunities for application consideration
  • Author, track, and submit proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising/grants
  • Collaborate with Executive Director, staff, and bookkeeper to obtain data, stories, and financial information needed for grants, Annual Report, Year in Review, website, newsletters, etc.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to develop, maintain, and grow church partnerships
  • Develop and build a legacy gift program
  • Develop and oversee strategies for 3rd party campaigns including but not limited to The Big Payback, Belk Charity Days, Taste of Williamson, etc.
  • Manage Donor Perfect database to track donor giving and run reports as needed to determine current status toward achieving annual metrics
  • Oversee regular updates to maintain compliance with Guidestar, Great NonProfits, and other desired seals of transparency or approval
  • Keep organizational website current and updated as well as related websites such as Giving Matters and Guidestar
  • Author and distribute event and organizational newsletters via Mailchimp or similar platform
  • Oversee and implement plans related to social media (Facebook, Instagram)
  • Design materials for social media, newsletters, and other applications using Adobe Spark
  • Maintain a current organizational brochure for marketing purposes
  • Communicate regularly with all Begin Anew staff
  • Passion for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and a willingness to sign Begin Anew’s Statement of Faith
  • Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

   Direct the work of others, including, but not limited to, planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work. Holds colleagues accountable to quality standards and reviews performance. Responsible for hiring, training, developing, coaching, retaining, and terminating colleagues.

  • Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships

 

  • Experience with Squarespace, Adobe Spark, Mailchimp, Donor Perfect, and/or Salesforce preferred but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works in well-lit, ventilated, and climate-controlled environment

HOURS / SHIFTS

Monday – Friday; 8am-4:30pm, some flexibility with schedule due to office hours and hybrid of working from home, but averaging at least 40 hours per week for full time colleagues

  Approximately 20 hours per week for part-time colleagues

TRAVEL

  Minimum overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.

  Moderate overnight travel (25% – 50%) by land and/or air.

  Frequent overnight travel (more than 50%) by land and/or air
