Mending Hearts is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that helps women restore their lives from addiction through a long-term treatment program that offers hope and healing in a supportive community environment – regardless of their ability to pay.
As the largest nonprofit in Tennessee offering the full continuum of care (detox through independent living) in Tennessee, we provide a holistic approach to addiction recovery through compassionate phases of care in a family environment. We identify the triggers and stressors of addiction while establishing the support needed for recovery. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Development and Communications Coordinator will serve as a complimentary staff member to the Senior Director of Development and Communications by providing additional funding outreach, and other development support responsibilities. The Development and Communications Coordinator will participate in fundraising activities including donor stewardship, public relations, direct mail appeals, and coordination of special events, as well as communications activities. This position requires extreme attention to detail to ensure the impeccable delivery of donor services.
Job Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations
- Prepare gift acknowledgment letters and receipts
- Ensure the accurate and consistent maintenance and management of the donor database to guarantee the integrity of data
- In cooperation with Development team members, implement fundraising events, including event data management, gathering and preparing registration materials, ordering supplies, and all other aspects of fundraising events
- Assist in the scheduling of donor meetings, including the coordination of the production and distribution of meeting folders, event kits, and stewardship material
- Support Major Donor campaigns through research to identify potential donors and support ongoing stewardship
- Coordinate donor mailings, including list preparation, and execution of mailing campaigns
- Assist with all communications activities.
- Manage organizational overview and narratives on givingmatters.com and other charity monitoring sites
- Participate in Development Committee meetings
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- (Required) Minimum 2 years of proven experience in nonprofit fundraising
- (Preferred) Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience
- Highly skilled in organization, attention to detail, time management, ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, problem solve, and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal communication skills, including excellent writing and grammar skills
- High degree of initiative and ability to work independently
- Effective, professional written and oral communication skills
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, donor databases (Bloomerang experience is a plus), and social media platforms
- Must be discreet and safeguard confidential information
