Job Summary

The National Dislocated Worker Grant (NDWG) COVID Service Assistant is a grant funded temporary position. The NDWG provides temporary employment opportunities for recently dislocated workers resulting from the Coronavirus Pandemic.  The COVID Service Assistant will provide administrative support and general assistance services for relief and recovery projects resulting from the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Anticipated duration of the position is from 3-6 months with the possibility of extended time depending on needs. Positions are available in Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier, and Union counties.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides COVID health screening assistance.
  • Provides COVID sanitation assistance by ensuring that commonly used spaces are cleaned throughout the workday.
  • Performs general administrative and clerical duties.
  • Checks and compares data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Operates a computer, printer, scanner etc. to enter, store and retrieve data
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a dislocated worker.
  • High school diploma (or GED) required
  • Six months to one year of general office and customer service experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Good human relations and communications skills are required
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and adapt in a rapidly changing atmosphere
  • Desire to make a positive impact in the workforce development of the East Tennessee by working directly with local employers as well as diverse and low-income populations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Maintains good working relationships with clients, department staff, vendors, and guests.
  • Portrays a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
  • Exhibits a strong orientation toward customer service.
  • Displays excellent interpersonal skills and tact with client and employee interactions as well as demonstrating the ability to calmly respond to customers under stress.
  • Excellent memory and organizational ability in order to set priorities, organize workload, and handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, good driving record, and maintain vehicle insurance.
