Job Summary

 

Nashville International Center for Empowerment, established in 2005, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) ethnic community-based organization dedicated to ensuring refugees and immigrants achieve their full potential now and for generations to come. The COVID-19 Trusted Messenger will report to the Adult Education Program Manager and will work closely with the adult education and the health program staff. This is a part-time, 10 hour a week position. This person can create a flexible schedule, work with familiar communities and promote safe and healthy choices regarding COVID-19. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Promote awareness and deliver education about the Covid-19 vaccine
  • Distribute flyers and answer questions at local centers including: religious centers, schools, stores, fairs, festivals, 
  • Prepare and lead events with adult education students promoting vaccine education 
  • Complete reporting sheets after each outreach event to collect data and improve delivery
  • Work with Lead Health Case Manager to record video testimonials
  • Attend local vaccination events and assist clients in overcoming barriers to vaccine access (transportation, phone call reminders) 
  • Maintain regular communication with adult education and health program staff.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate: 

  • Ability to work with a diverse team.  
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, manage, control and execute tasks on timely matters 
  • Ability to present strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills 
  • Have high levels of motivation, self-reliance, and independence 
  • Ability to troubleshoot/problem solve 

 

 Requirements: 

 

  • Excellent oral English proficiency 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international communities in Nashville  
  • Familiarity with Microsoft excel, information databases, internet and email 
  • Commitment to live and work in Nashville, Tennessee 
  • Reliable transportation 
  • Fluency in Somali, Swahili, Arabic, Kurdish, Spanish, Karen, Kinyarwanda, or Nepali or language used by a refugee community in Nashville

Experience: 

  • Experience in educational or health related job is preferred but not required
