Job Summary
Love and encourage Men of Valor staff, volunteers, and participants in such a way that reflects and honors Christ. Represent Men of Valor as a therapist to counsel and inform our students and the incarcerated population about trauma, addiction, and therapy. Work closely with the Counseling Director to cultivate a safe and healthy environment for Men of Valor staff and participants, including the launching and supporting of a more robust counseling program for Men of Valor at our reentry campuses and for Men of Valor program participants in prisons and jails.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in facilitating Counseling Manager in providing counseling services both onsite and in the local jails/prisons.
- Implement curriculum and best practices surrounding trauma and addiction to be applied in programs, individual and group therapy for the incarcerated and reentering populations.
- Facilitate individual counseling and group therapy sessions.
- Implement the most effective modalities for ACEs & Prison Trauma (EMDR, IFS Therapy, etc.)
- Work with the Department of Correction, jails, Core Civic, and relevant Men of Valor staff to establish a protocol for programming inside state prisons.
- Hybrid position requiring travel to local jails two to three days a week.
Schedule sessions for interns and participants:
- Work with the Front-Line Team to determine participants for counseling.
- Carry an active caseload for clients at the Ridge, Valor Way, or Chattanooga campuses.
- Attend monthly full-staff meetings.
- Attend monthly front-line team meetings (when necessary).
- Other duties as needed or assigned.
- Professional experience working with those suffering from trauma and substance use disorders.

- Ability to handle confidential matters discreetly and efficiently.
- Must be able to use discretion in matters related to the ministry and use your best judgment to problem-solve and guide the client through Biblical principles.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Access, knowledge, and daily utilization of office equipment, Microsoft Office Suite, Google, TEAMS, Credit Card, and QuickBooks Payroll & TIME applications.
- Strong record-keeping ability and record-keeping skills.
REQUIREMENTS
- A master’s degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- Pre-licensed, temporary license, or full licensure as an LPC, MSW, or MFT.
- Required to work a flexible schedule including some night and weekend availability.
- A valid driver’s license and active personal car insurance.
- Personal professional liability insurance.
- 30-40% Travel requirements to counsel, teach, and attend ministry events, and ministry functions.
