Job Summary

Position Summary:  The Coordinator, Marketing and Communications contributes to the efforts of United Way of Greater Nashville by providing support for all United Way marketing activities including digital marketing, print materials and community outreach efforts. This position works to ensure projects are executed with high-quality and provides superior communications to our constituents and volunteers, with the goal of educating the community on our work and inspiring people to take action.

Marketing and Communications Support

  • Assists with content development, copywriting, project management and support for the Marketing Team
  • Schedules interviews and photo shoots for client, donor and partner agency storytelling campaigns
  • Works collaboratively with Community Impact teams to manage monthly newsletters for specific programs/initiatives
  • Assists with copywriting for event-related marketing materials and collateral
  • Serves as key proofreader on all marketing materials
  • Acts as back-up to Senior Communications Manager for project management tool and email marketing platform
  • Provides support to Marketing Team in support of digital marketing, website content, video production and social media efforts 
  • Collaborates with internal departments to identify and draft content for various social media channels
  • Researches and coordinates online posting/sharing of local community content
  • Plans and coordinates social media strategy for the United Way Young Leaders Society
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating organization’s website on WordPress
  • Manages Google Business profiles and captures monthly metrics/insights
  • Generates engaging content for monthly blog posts
  • Assists with video coverage and production for internal programs and United Way events
  • Assists with editing and uploading of podcasts as assigned
  • Supports organization’s experiential marketing and outreach efforts, including representing the organization at local events, festivals, press conferences and community gatherings
  • Researches, organizes and executes UWGN presence at local events
  • Coordinates speaking engagements for UWGN leadership
  • Coordinates volunteer ambassadors and activities at outreach events
  • Maintains inventory of UWGN marketing collateral and outreach materials
  • Supports CMO and Creative Director with administrative duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field (or equivalent lived experience)
  • Preferred Experience:
    • 2 years of marketing, communications or digital content experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting or 2 years of experience in a marketing/communications support role
    • Working with external stakeholders and volunteers
  • Skills:
    • Oral, written and technological communication
    • Experience with online media scheduling tools such as HootSuite
    • Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Products, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • MailChimp or similar email marketing platform experience
    • Wrike or similar project management tool experience
    • Basic computing and database management skills
  • Additional:
    • A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
