The Mary Parrish Center (MPC) is a nonprofit human service organization that is dedicated to providing housing and support services for survivors who are homeless or in need of housing as a result of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and/or human trafficking. Our mission is to provide survivors of interpersonal violence and their children safe, accessible and compassionate housing with individualized care that promotes healing, autonomy and hope. 

 

The MPC seeks a highly motivated and flexible individual to fill its Coordinate Entry Specialist & Community Educator position. The Coordinated Entry Specialist and Community Educator will provide housing first, trauma-informed, survivor-centered services to households seeking housing through our Domestic Violence Coordinated Entry (DV-CE). Coordinated Entry is a system-wide process which helps connect individuals experiencing a housing crisis to appropriate housing and support services. This is an exempt, full-time grant funded position, reporting directly to the Program Services Manager

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct eligibility and needs assessments with individuals and families experiencing a housing crisis due to interpersonal violence.
  • Facilitate prioritized client referrals to appropriate housing and support services.
  • Help survivors navigate housing and support services that are not currently directly participating in the Coordinated Entry process.  
  • Enter all intake data for new participants in our secure data management system.
  • Ensure that privacy, safety, and client choice in housing, services and location are optimized.
  • Develop a practical day-to-day knowledge of how domestic violence and homeless services are provided in our community, both within and outside of the Coordinated Entry process.
  • Conduct community outreach to organizations, especially those that provide services to historically underserved populations, to educate them about interpersonal violence and our Domestic Violence Coordinated Entry process.
  • Help educate Nashville’s Continuum of Care on domestic violence and safety planning.
  • Research, develop, maintain, and present pertinent community trainings.
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
  • Assist with preparation of domestic violence care coordinate meetings.
  • Actively participate in all CE care coordination meetings.
  • Maintain client and program confidentiality.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation and data reports.
  • Work with participants, co-workers, supervisor, community partners, and all other relevant stakeholders in a manner which is consistent with and promotes The Mary Parrish Center’s ethical commitments and organizational values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and implement best practices around services for at-risk individuals and families.
  • Ability to be flexible, as this position will travel to shelters and other organizations in the community where survivors are receiving services.
  • Experience in providing direct services to individuals affected by complex traumas.
  • A working knowledge of domestic violence services and Nashville’s Continuum of Care, preferred.
  • People-oriented with demonstrated ability to build rapport and gain trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds.  
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral, and prompt response to messages.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, as required by law and in the best interests of survivors, staff and the agency.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation.

Benefits

Benefits:  The salary is $40,000-$43,000/year.  Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, short-term and long-term disability insurance and paid time off. 

Location: This position offers a flexible and collegial hybrid working environment (between home and our office which is located on the premises of our transitional housing program property in Nashville.) Local travel is required for the purpose of meeting with clients at shelters, The Family Safety Center, or other community agencies.
