Job Summary
This position prepares breakfast, lunch and a healthy snack for approximately 100 children on a daily basis in accordance with CACFP (Federal Food Program) guidelines. Weekly planning of menus, maintaining an accurate inventory, and placing orders with multiple vendors on a regular basis are essential. Maintain an organized, clean, safe and sanitary kitchen with daily cleaning and assessment of equipment. Ability to navigate stairs while transporting food to different areas of the building is required.
Job Responsibilities
- Menu planning and recipes (menus completed in ink and in print, two weeks in advance, menus posted the first day of the week, limited changes reflected in ink) to meet Day Home policies, Tennessee health inspections, CACFP requirements, and Licensing requirements
- Complete inventory when preparing menus and ordering
- Ordering menu items and kitchen supplies (include healthy and diverse food choices)
- Preparation of meals (breakfast, lunch, snack – all components organized and ready, left out and/or directions given) to meet Day Home policies, Tennessee health inspections, CACFP requirements, and Licensing requirements
- Service of meals (responsible for classroom communication in regard to but not limited to seconds, late children, and dietary needs/changes) to meet Day Home policies, Tennessee health inspections, CACFP requirements, and Licensing requirements
- All deliveries put away completely before leaving for the day – unless emergency or classroom situation arises
- Organization, cleaning, and maintenance of kitchen
- Following daily serving and cleaning procedures in compliance with Day Home policies, Tennessee health inspections, CACFP requirements, and Licensing requirements
- Daily clean all kitchen surfaces including sinks, stove, microwave, carts, etc.
- Take out kitchen trash every morning and every afternoon before leaving
- Detailed cleaning of oven, refrigerator, freezer, cabinets, drawers, and dry storage once a month
- Track personal attendance according to CACFP requirements
- Compliance with Tennessee health inspections, CACFP guidelines, DHS Licensing requirements, and Day Home policies

REQUIREMENTS
- Clear fingerprinting and background check**
- Complete required DHS and CACFP training classes**
- Complete a physical**
- Must provide three letters of recommendation
