Job Summary
The Community Outreach Specialist for the Opioid Abatement Program will be dedicated to establishing/supporting key partnerships between SUD and DV/SA professionals, including facilitating committees.
Job Responsibilities
The Tennessee Coalition Opioid Abatement Program will be a threefold initiative that includes prevention, education, and treatment to address this need. Primary prevention activities will include the creation and dissemination of educational materials, as well as training and support for prevention professionals. The Coalition will provide education and technical assistance to local domestic violence and sexual assault programs across Tennessee to improve their capacity to serve survivors with Opioid Use Disorder and co-occurring issues. Direct services will include free, statewide telehealth and recovery groups for DV/SA survivors that focus on trauma, opioid, and substance use.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishes partnerships between local domestic violence/sexual assault providers, local opioid/substance abuse treatment and recovery providers, and housing/employment resources.
- Convenes the Substance Use and IPV Committee.
- Creates and maintains resource directory.
- Assists with warm hand-offs to recovery programs.
- Engage non-profits, faith-based communities, and community coalitions to support people in treatment and recovery and to support family members in their efforts to support the person with OUD in the family.
- Engage non-profits and the faith community as a system to support prevention and support outreach for treatment.
- Serves as a leader to ensure strong communications between TCEDSV and all external constituents.
- Follows and supports policies and procedures of TCEDSV.
- Actively seeks to learn the history of TCEDSV.
- Supports and promotes the mission of TCEDSV.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in partnership development.
- BA/BS preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the problems associated with violence against women and/or children and the needs of victims of crime.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain partnerships.
- Demonstrated ability for organization and administration.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Superior organizational and time management skills.
- Supports the mission, vision, and strategic goals of TCEDSV to serve both internal and external customers.
- Conducts self in a professional manner; maintains appropriate professional appearance.
- Participates as a team member utilizing a collaborative style to achieve mutual goals.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Coalition has a robust benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, vacation/sick leave, holidays, and flexible schedules. TNC is a remote agency.
Work Environment:
TCEDSV operates primarily through a remote work environment. The incumbent will reside in Tennessee and be able to travel for business purposes to Nashville or other parts of the state on an occasional basis which may include some overnight travel. The schedule is established for the position by the CEO and CAO of TCEDSV.

Ability to lift/carry up to 20 pounds. Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time. Good manual dexterity with the ability to perform repetitive hand/wrist motions. Ability to manage multiple tasks as assigned and handle stressful situations. Works in a typical office environment. The noise level is usually moderate.
Comments: This position is considered light work with repetitive motion.
