Job Summary

Position for 20-30 hours a week between two office locations (sporadic hours throughout the week). – The position is located out of the Dickson/Erin office area and involves the community corrections program which supervises and monitors non-violent felony offenders who have been released from incarceration and assigned to house arrest.

Job Responsibilities

Position will be providing confidential rehabilitative support for the individuals in the Community Corrections Program and their families to instill attitudinal changes, pro social behavior, abstinence from drugs and alcohol use and reduce the rate of recidivism. This will be achieved through ongoing treatment, counseling, education and referrals within the community with a patient, flexible approach; realizing rehabilitation is a slow process that occurs over a period of months. Provide holistic and reality-based counseling to counsel individuals, couples and families. Referrals are made by Community Corrections Case Officers, by the individuals themselves or are mandated by the courts to address needs, concerns or problems relating to family preservation. Assess alcohol/drug dependency and education levels. Act as a liaison with community agencies primarily in the 18th, 21st, and 23rd Judicial Districts for referrals. Provide education on substance use, abuse and dependency and its impact on daily living skills, parenting and pro social lifestyles.  Provide weekly group meetings for community corrections clients in discussion and education pertaining to lifestyle attitudes and wellness. Act as a resource for Community Correction Case Officers.  Provide support and crisis intervention as needed. Provide necessary information to Community Correction Case Officers or others only with written consent of release. Abide by the strict laws of confidentiality as protected by the federal laws as our primary obligation and not disclose any confidential information. Provide educational materials on primarily drugs and alcohol for Individuals and families

Qualifications

BSW, LADAC preferred Equal Work Experience can be evaluated.  The following certification Strong-R, MRT and DV Certification may be given preference and will be a requirement for new hire within the first year. Prefer at least 5 years’ experience in treatment field. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment; ability to evaluate situations and make decisions; ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly; MUST maintain very strong time management skills. The ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees.
