Cumberland Region Tomorrow is looking for a talented, motivated professional with a keen eye for engaging content, experience building readership and working with freelance writers and fellows, and a strong commitment to an inclusive, diverse, growing Middle Tennessee region where all people can choose to live in vibrant, livable communities.

Cumberland Region Tomorrow (CRT) is a non-profit organization that focuses on growth, transportation, housing, and environmental policy in Middle Tennessee with a strong emphasis on equity and sustainability.

We need someone to help us create thoughtful and engaging micro-content, distribute that content broadly, and get our message in front of more people. Such a person will:

  • Have excellent written and verbal communications skills, especially in the creation of micro-content formatted for email and social media.
  • Be self-driven and motivated by the CRT mission.
  • Have the ability to work quickly and independently to meet deadlines.
  • Be skilled at communicating by email and over social media platforms, particularly Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
  • Be comfortable with using data and analytics to improve outcomes.
  • Be a creative and strategic thinker who enjoys working collaboratively with thought leaders.

Job Responsibilities

The position of Communications Manager includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Produce regular content for CRT, including blog posts, features and publications.
  • Curate content on the CRT website/blog. Coordinate the content-production efforts of our regular contributors, members, fellows and special guests.
  • The creation and distribution of routine emails using CRT website/blog content to subscribers of CRT email lists.
  • Monitoring and increasing overall levels of social engagement.
  • Utilizing data and analytics to refine strategies over time. Communicating strategies and results to others within the organization.
  • Scheduling communications around CRT events and other related engagements.
  • Working with traditional and non-traditional media to expand the reach of the CRT message.

Qualifications

Candidates should be available to start work on or close to the start of April 1, 2020.

You will be able to work from home, but at least bi-weekly in-person check-ins will be required in or near downtown Nashville.

The position requires a computer and internet access.

Benefits

This is a contract position with compensation in the range of $20-25/hour. Hourly demands are expected to be between 25-40 hours per week. Bonuses may be available based on performance.
