Job Summary

The Club Director directs and manages overall daily operations of Nashville’s Boys & Girls Club. This position also provides leadership, direction, supervision, and evaluation of Club staff regarding program development and the programmatic impact areas (Academic Success, Character and Citizenship; Healthy Lifestyles; Frequency of Attendance) and staff management. This Club Director assists in delivering organizational and Club-specific goals. This position manages budgets and controls expenditures for the Club.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assumes ultimate responsibility for all staff activities, programs, and operational functions related to their Club location
  • Assists in the development and implementation of organization wide programs, trainings events and other assignments as needed
  • Builds a strong working team at the Club with staff empowered to achieve program objectives and outcomes
  • Creates a warm, positive environment that helps achieve youth development outcomes
  • Implements Club programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success, as well as, accomplish and exceed the minimum standards that are determined by the organization
  • Ensures that all programmatic and operational data required by the organization is being collected, tracked, and accurately reported in a timely manner
  • Ensures a healthy and safe environment while maintaining facilities, equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains close communications with Club staff
  • Explains and discusses organizational mission, program objectives, standards and issues
  • Maintains close contact with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Development Officer (CDO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and other management staff in order to achieve organizational mission
  • Completes and implements the Impact Assessment planning tool provided by Boys & Girls Clubs of America throughout the calendar year
  • Completes Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Annual Report as it pertains to their Club location
  • Compiles required reports reflecting all activities, attendance, and participation
  • Organizes and documents all programs for the planned year
  • Manages Club financial resources and development of annual budgets. Controls expenditures against budget
  • Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the physical properties and equipment. Ensures compliance with organization policies
  • Follows policies and procedure in purchasing of supplies and equipment
  • Provide leadership and support to Board members in obtaining fundraising goals in order to meet the Club’s yearly budget
  • Recruits, manages and engages volunteers
  • Maintains a current professional development plan for each full-time and part-time staff
  • Provides Club specific orientation to all new and seasonal employees, coordinating with the COO & Director of Operations who has overall responsibility for orientation
  • Conducts regular staff meetings to discuss program outcomes, assigned tasks, Club procedures, and individual youth development and organization policies
  • Allocates and monitors work assigned to program staff and volunteers, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal; Identify and support training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers and staff
  • Oversees proper record-keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problem/issues
  • Ensures productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers
  • Develops and maintains public relations to increase the visibility of programs and services within the Club community
  • Works with the Director of Marketing and Events to publicize activities of the Club
  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations in order to enhance program goals and objectives
  • Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving issues and to publicize Club programs
  • Obtain your CDL Class B with a P Endorsement within 90 days of your hire date

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of five years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to critically think through issues, resolve problems, and solution oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit new members and retain existing members
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, including fixtures, equipment, and building maintenance, and retention of key personnel
  • Knowledge of 21st Century educational grant
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to youth development, partnership development, and group leadership skills
  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain CDL license
  • Meet the eligibility of insurance company regulations for operating Club vehicles
  • Proficient in Internet use and Microsoft Office products
  • Possession of or ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Ability to pass a background check and physical examination.
