Job Summary

SUMMARY

Catholic Charities is seeking candidates for the position of a bi-lingual (Spanish) Intake Specialist/Counselor for the Individual and Family Counseling program. The Intake Specialist interviews incoming clients and provides initial information about programs; performs needs assessments; assists clients in filling out paperwork; makes appropriate referrals, provides support to clients on wait list and maintains a small client caseload. This is a benefits eligible, Full-time position. Our office location is 2806 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Provides initial contact to individuals inquiring about counseling; screens and assess requests for counseling services to determine appropriateness for program’s services making referrals to other agencies or qualified individuals when indicated according to agency guidelines.
  • Assist clients in completing intake paperwork and discusses fees and payment options.
  • Conduct crisis counseling as needed.
  • Provides therapy to a small caseload of clients and assists with support groups as needed.
  • Consult regularly with clinical supervisor and colleagues on specific client-related challenges.
  • Maintain wait list: conducting periodic check-ins and maintain appropriate files.
  • Participates in workshops and in-service trainings to increase professional knowledge.
  • Collaborates with the clinical team around caseloads and ability to take cases.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or a related field with 2+ years’ experience working in the mental health field.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, written and oral, is required.
  • Knowledge of community or other available resources that serve the      needs of families who are experiencing multiple problem areas.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good judgment, courtesy, and tact in dealing with the public and peers.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and work well under pressure and/or meeting deadlines.
  • Client focused and able to handle confidential information with extreme professionalism.
  • Schedule flexibility to accommodate the needs of client(s).
  • Successful completion of criminal background screening.
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft, Outlook, and Excel.
