Clinical Associate – Men’s Program
Full-time- 2nd Shift

POSITION SUMMARY The Clinical Associate is responsible for assisting counseling staff members with providing direct and indirect services to a specified group and/or population of patients, including facilitation of a safe and therapeutic milieu. In addition, the Clinical Associate assists counseling staff in assessing the patients’ daily needs, as well as assisting them to become involved in their own treatment and recovery experience.

Full-time- 2nd Shift

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include some or all of the following depending on assigned area and shift:

  1.  Provides information, including formal and informal orientation, to patients or family members regarding clinical programs and services including content, schedules, guidelines, etc.
  2. Assists counseling staff with assessment, both initial and ongoing, by data collection and direct observation of the patient and/or family within the therapeutic milieu.
  3. Provides addiction and recovery related psycho-education to individuals, groups, and families as assigned, as well as facilitating and/or coordinating community groups, in-house and outside 12 step meetings, and 12 Step discussion/study groups.
  4. Transports patients to 12 Step meetings and/or other therapeutic recreation activities as assigned.
  5. Assists Activities Services staff members with recreation, art, music, and adventure based therapies as assigned.
  6. Assists in monitoring, including making rounds as assigned, and managing patient community as a therapeutic milieu, holding patients and families accountable for behavior consistent with community guidelines and recovery.
  7. Intervenes in clinical and community crises in such a manner as to use crises for therapeutic value.
  8. Assists in de-escalation and management of crises, including performing CPR and First Aid as needed.
  9. Participates in team meetings, quality management teams, and treatment plan review as assigned
  10. Documents pertinent clinical information into the electronic patient record.
  11. Transports patients and operates company vehicles within the guidelines of the Fleet Management Safety Program.
  12. Ensures that a welcoming, safe and healing environment is maintained for each patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
  13. Recommends ways to improve the quality and delivery of services.
  14. Ensures proper handling and distribution of company funds.
  15. Maintains confidentiality of company and patient information.
  16. Reacts productively to change.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED required with Bachelor’s degree preferred; active pursuit of licensure required; experience in addictions treatment preferred; and/or equivalent experience in job related activities.

OTHER SKILLS Ability to speak, hear, see, sit, walk and stand; ability to speak, read and write in English; excellent interpersonal skills; good problem-solving and analytical skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; basic computer and office equipment skills; current Tennessee driver’s license in good standing; understanding of 12 Step programs and philosophy with ability to model/teach same; ability to present to hostile or disinterested groups; ability to engage with clients as an ally; ability to remain calm in stressful and/or crisis situations; CPR, First Aid, Handle with Care certification or eligible; knowledge of and ability to apply information regarding cultural/age/population specific characteristics to patient care in assigned area; for Family Services Clinical Associate, knowledge of the impact of addiction and recovery on the family system, as well as available community resources for this population.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Position is in an office setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions. Position may be subject to unusual working hours. Position may have direct contact with volatile individuals and may require additional safety precautions. Position may be subject to local travel to courts, jails and other sites.
