Job Summary

TIRRC is seeking an enthusiastic Civic Engagement Coordinator to spearhead our electoral efforts across the state. This position will be responsible for executing parts of the overall field plan to get immigrant and refugee communities registered to vote, digital campaigns, and participate in the local, state, and federal elections.

Job Responsibilities

Voter Engagement, Education, and Mobilization

  • Create multilingual spaces, voter registration opportunities, and voter education opportunities for immigrant and refugee voters across the state;
  • Recruit and coordinate a team of civic engagement coordinators to canvass across the state during various election cycles;
  • Collect and share stories of immigrant and refugee voters with the communications team;
  • Present on relevant policy changes, campaigns, and services to community groups;
  • Attend community meetings and events to recruit supporters and prospective volunteers;
  • Build and maintain coalitions and tables among community partners interested in collaborative voter work, while also training community partners that need extra support or consultation;
  • Create and implement campaigns to register eligible voters online and encourage registered voters to vote in elections before the voter registration deadlines;
  • Recruit and train individual and organizational volunteers to phone bank, text bank, and canvass;
  • Be well versed in voter access tools to mobilize voter and advocacy campaigns across the state;
  • Represent the organization in traditional, ethnic, and social media as needed.

Data Administration Support

  • Enter data and contacts into organizational databases;
  • Connect VAN data to our CRM to ensure organizational data is captured in multiple CRMs.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed above. As with every position at TIRRC, every person in the organization will assist their colleagues to ensure a cooperative environment and respond to the needs of the moment.

Qualifications

  • Belief in TIRRC’s mission and commitment to social justice;
  • Familiarity with the state of Tennessee preferred;
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with diverse communities; 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong computer skills; experience with VAN, MiniVAN, VoteBuilder, ThruText, Hustle, and Reach preferred;
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends with the possibility of travel;
  • Fluency in English required and another language preferred;
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Benefits

Salary Range: $40,000-42,000

Benefits Package: Full-time TIRRC employees are eligible to receive medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% of the medical employee premium covered by TIRRC, participate in a 401K retirement plan, and receive 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Program. In addition, TIRRC provides paid leave including up to 15 vacation days, 13 paid holidays, and 3 weeks paid sick leave in an employee’s first year and 6 weeks of paid parental leave.
