Job Summary

An enthusiastic and fun individual who wants to organize and direct recreational activities for children in the Skilled Nursing program by performing the following duties.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans and implements recreational activities for patients that meet their needs and interests.
  • Evaluate responsiveness to activities and adjust as needed.
  • Develops and maintains a constructive and ongoing rapport with children and parents.
  • Assists (and plans as assigned) outings, special guest/volunteer visits, and special events at the Nursing Center.
  • Assists with transfers and ambulation of children as needed. 
  • Reports all changes or observations of children’s condition to the nurse.
  • Assists with personal care needs including assistance with diaper changes/toileting along with providing hygiene or grooming assistance to patients as needed.
  • Dons/Doffs all assistive equipment and devices as needed.
  • Assists children during meal and nap times.
  • Leads group Bible study and/or prayer as assigned.
  • Maintains a clean and tidy room, and cleans and sanitizes equipment and toys consistent with health and safety standards.
  • Delegates tasks to support staff as needed.
  • Attends meetings, and conferences, and participates in other activities to promote professional growth.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, child development, or related field preferred. Pediatric experience preferred. Work experience in a similar environment is preferred.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and web-based applications such as electronic medical records.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider with skills testing certification is required.
