Job Summary

Nashville International Center for Empowerment, established in 2005, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) ethnic community-based organization dedicated to ensure refugees and immigrants achieve their full potential now and for generations to come The NICE Childcare Coordinator will work closely with the Site Coordinator and Youth Education Manager to plan and provide a safe, nurturing environment for children to play and learn during adult ESL programming. This position is part time, 9 hours a week and will be on-site

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise children ages 0-5 while parents are onsite for ESL lessons
  • Engage children in learning activities including circle time, cooperative play, independent exploration etc. 
  • Lead a lesson (story, song, activity) every day prepared by the Youth Education Manager
  • Collect personal information for all children in the program and store in onsite file folder
  • Communicate with parents regarding daily activities and children’ well being 
  • Enforce sign in and sign out procedures daily
  • Clean and sanitize children’s area after each day in accordance with site policies
  • Assign duties to volunteers and encourage their positive interactions with the children 
  • Maintain relationship with Site Coordinator to inform of childcare updates, absences, celebrations, problems, etc.
  • Complete professional development as assigned by NICE
  • Follow all safety procedures established by the site

Qualifications

Successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Ability to work with a diverse team
  • Ability to communicate with learners with low levels of English 
  • Love for children 
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot/problem solve

Requirements

  • Availability from 9-12PM or 6-8PM Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays
  • Reliable transportation
  • Experience teaching young children
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development and child rearing practices
  • Fluency in Spanish, Swahili, Somali, Arabic, Dari is preferred but not required
