Youth Empowerment through Arts and Humanities (YEAH!) a non-profit in Middle Tennessee amplifies the voices of youth through music education and exploration. YEAH! fosters empowerment, collaborative relationships, and healthy communities of all identities. YEAH! achieves this mission through music and life skills educational programming including (but not limited to) the following programs: YEAH! Rocks summer camp, Rock Block, and Rock Block MNPS in partnership with local community organizations. For more details, please visit www.yeahrocks.org.

YEAH! is about more than just music! In our 20th year and 3rd season after a two-year pause due to the pandemic, we continue to cover age-appropriate issues experienced by youth ages 6-17 in order to help provide a courageous and safe space where the power of their voice,  uniqueness, and commonalities can we shared and celebrated through music education! YEAH! values collaboration over competition and leads participants to explore themselves, and the world around them and be inspired to develop their communities in and outside of YEAH!  

YEAH! prioritizes expanded diversity among its students, teachers, volunteers, staff, and it’s board. YEAH! reaches out to underrepresented populations, such as our non-English speaking, LGBTQ+, neurodiverse, and title1 public school communities in Middle Tennessee. YEAH! is looking for a remote part-time Bookkeeper, expected 7-10 hours a month, to maintain our general ledger, and support our Executive Director and Finance Committee financial management needs. 

Job Responsibilities

YEAH! BOOKKEEPER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a current and accurate log of the chart of accounts, job accounts, and accounting products/services/classes
  • Enter annual budget into Quickbooks 
  • Monthly entry of payroll, payroll taxes, sales, expenses, and taxes  
  • Set up vendor, employee, receipts, and invoices  
  • Support the administration of our CRM –  Kindful
  • Process payment for our TN Dept of State annual renewals
  • Assist CPA with required IRS tax information  
  • Audit preparation and management as needed
  • Monthly bank reconciliation including credit card & investment reconciliation vendor payments  
  • Enter income and expenses into Quickbooks by the first week of the following month in preparation for the monthly Finance Committee meeting
  • Create  and send financial statements to ED and Treasurer 10 days before each FC meeting

Qualifications

YEAH! BOOKKEEPER QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or business administration
  • Preferably three years of non-profit bookkeeping experience
  • Some experience administering benefits 
  • A good working knowledge of the QuickBooks accounting software package and Kindful CRM
  • Understanding of state and federal rules
  • Detailed recordkeeping
