Job Summary

Nashville Freedom School Partnership uses literacy to instill cultural pride, self-assurance and
active citizenship with a primary focus on children and youth of color. Our vision is to support all
Nashville Children towards activating their potential so future generations can thrive in
community together.

Nashville Freedom School Partnership© (NFSP) is the local affiliate of the award-winning,
national CDF Freedom Schools©, created in 1995 by the Childrenʼs Defense Fund© in
Washington, D.C. The mission of the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) is to ensure every child a
healthy start, a head start, a fair start, a safe start and a moral start in life and successful
passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities. The CDF Freedom
Schools® program provides summer and after-school enrichment through a research-based
and multicultural program model that supports K-12 scholars and their families through five
essential components: high quality academic and character-building enrichment; parent and
family involvement; civic engagement and social action; intergenerational servant leadership
development; and nutrition, health and mental health. Our six-week summer program helps to
prevent the summer learning slide children experience when the school year ends.

Our organization is currently seeking applications from interested professionals who want to
support our mission to reduce the literacy challenges facing Tennessee students and their
families.
