Job Summary

As the Diverse Learners Cooperative grows, we are seeking board members to grow with us.

Job Responsibilities

Purpose of the DLC’s Board: To advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of Diverse Learners Cooperative in order to support the organization’s mission and needs.

Functions of the DLC Board:
1.     Formulate, approve and monitor long-range goals and objectives.
2.     Formulate and adopt policies.
3.     Develop financial resources for achieving goals and long-term financial development strategy.
4.     Adopt and monitor the organization’s operating budget, financial development plan/insurance program.
5.     Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability.
6.     Protect the assets of the organization.
7.     Form linkages with other community organizations.
8.     Share the story of the organization.

Length of DLC Board Member term: We are asking members to commit to a minimum of 2 years. After 2 years time, membership may be renewed up to a maximum of 3 consecutive terms, pending approval of the board.

Qualifications

We are seeking board members with a clear connection to the mission of the Diverse Learners Cooperative – to equip and empower school teams to serve all learners inclusive of students with disabilities and multilingual learners. Further, we are specifically interested in candidates who have experience with marketing/communications, DEI initiatives, or consulting expertise. Candidates who have lived experiences that reflect the students central to our mission are given preference.
