Job Summary

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Program Director, the Program Coordinator will assist with development and implementation of YMCA of the USA Achievers Program Model. This includes lesson planning, club sessions, college tours, World of Work Tours and other direct work with high school youth. In addition, the coordinator will provide supervision and guidance to program participants and volunteers to ensure the success of the program.

Job Responsibilities

  • Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Contact students for one-on-one meetings and coordinate schedules
  • Responsible to schedule and meet with students who are involved in club programming
  • Execute program club meetings at assigned schools
  • Execute parent meetings at high schools
  • Manage relationships with YBA student officers
  • Engage student officers in student recruitment, marketing, and club activities for schools assigned
  • Represent the YMCA programs in the community by attending and hosting booths at schools for open houses, academy showcases, Parent University events, and community outreach events to strengthen the YMCA presence and collaborative partnerships in the community
  • Plan and participate in weekend and weeknight field trips, college tours, and career exploration tours
  • Maintain program tracking systems on program database internally; data tracking includes participation from volunteers, students, families, and community leaders
  • Help prepare materials for club meetings and events
  • Aid in the preparation of communication materials to reach out to parents and volunteers
  • Coordinate and oversee volunteers
  • Interface with other YMCA YCAP programs and other YMCA business units
  • Support communication with club sponsors, teachers, and school administrators
  • Support and meet with Operations Program Director and YMCA leadership as needed
  • Participate in supporting a culture of Philanthropy through engagement with stakeholders and donors under the direction of the Program Director.
  • Other duties as assigned

An enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants and staff to create a culture of service within our programs

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, BA/BS preferred
  • Experience in youth work preferred/ 2 to 3 years program experience and relevant experience in supervision and administration preferred
  • Bilingual candidate preferred

Certifications Required:

  • Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
  • Within 30 days of hire: CPR/ First Aid/ AED
  • Must maintain annual training requirements
