Position: Bilingual Family Engagement Manager 

Conexión Américas seeks qualified candidates for the position of Family Engagement Manager. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills in English and Spanish and significant experience in working with Latino populations. The candidate will also demonstrate an understanding of challenges relating to parent involvement in low-income communities, specifically in the Latino immigrant community. Experience with family engagement, the public education system, leadership development, or case management preferred. The successful candidate must be highly organized, compassionate, a capable group presenter and facilitator, and adaptable to working with people of diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. This position works primarily in Spanish, native level fluency is required. Please note that part of the interview will be conducted in Spanish.

POSITION DESCRIPTION 

This is a permanent, full-time staff position that reports to the Director of Programs. The Family Engagement Manager will be responsible for two components of family support: 1) resource coordination to help families going through a school transition and initial assessment/referrals to families experiencing housing insecurity 

and 2) the implementation of the Padres Comprometidos (Parents as Partners) family engagement program for Latino parents. The Padres Comprometidos program is a 6 to 9-week series of workshops, delivered completely in Spanish, which help Latino parents understand the school system and advocate for their child. The program manager will be responsible for implementing the pre-k, elementary, middle school, or high school curriculum at 4 to 5 school sites per year and will work closely with a team of volunteer Latino parent facilitators to co-present program content. This position requires a flexible schedule during Fall and Spring, as there are weekly evening commitments (6:00-8:30pm) during outreach and the 9 weeks of programming each semester. The expected start date for this role is June 1st.

Job Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Resource Coordination & Transition Support: 

Provide one-time or ongoing resource support to ensure that families are connected to adequate and

appropriate case management and resources to address housing insecurities. 

Develop key relationships among educational sites including Early Learning Centers (ELC), Family

Resource Centers (FRC), and other community hubs by engaging and collaborating with community

partners to build a strong network of support for families. 

Build a pathway for families as they transition from one school level to another. 

Provide resource guidance and build trust among partners, organizations, and educational sites in order for referrals and services to be shared cohesively along a continuum. 

Ensure efficient inter-program and partner communication by distributing information and

resources in a timely manner, allowing for families and school staff to be aware of partnerships, 

resources, and events.

Ensure that families have access to the services and support that they need, including working with

local childcare or Early Learning Centers to support the needs of children “phasing out”. The Family

Engagement Manager will seek to provide a warm handoff prior to the family completing time at their

childcare or Early Learning Center. 

Family Engagement Programming: 

Meet with school administrators and staff at multiple schools to set up the program logistics 

Conduct presentations to teachers, Parent Advisory Councils, etc, on the program and its outcomes 

Conduct thorough outreach for the program via phone calls, carlines, social media, presentations, 

school events, one-on-one conversations with parents, and other relevant methods 

Support the Spanish-speaking facilitator team in their efforts towards implementation of the program (conducting weekly planning meetings, leading professional development workshops, reviewing program content, etc) 

Support recruitment and coordination childcare volunteers and paid childcare assistants 

Prepare, set-up, and clean-up of all workshop materials, meals, and childcare 

Co-present workshop content about school system with the facilitator team 

Serve as the main information source and point of contact for Spanish-speaking parents participating in the program; gathers information on resources and contacts at participating schools 

Track attendance and plans retention efforts to successfully meet designated program goals 

Distribute and compiles post program evaluations and other program information 

Plan and implement closing graduation events 

Ensure accurate data entry of all participant information and maintains program data

Track and analyze program evaluation data to compile reports for schools and funders 

Establish diverse contacts and builds relationships with school system and other organizations 

Support the family engagement team to plan and implement ongoing training and professional development events for facilitators and the annual summer and winter trainings 

Supporting recruitment and training of new volunteer parent facilitators 

Effectively manage program budget and expenses 

Further develop program curriculums and ensure content is up to date with school system changes Maintain and continually improve program outreach, retention, curriculum quality 

Complete grant reports and monthly invoices to share program results and outcomes 

General Organizational Support: 

Support presentations on behalf of Conexión Américas at events, conferences, etc. when the topic pertains to the Parents as Partners program, parental engagement, engaging Latino families, etc 

Communicates in a positive and effective manner Conexión Américas’ mission and programs

Assist with fairs and outreach events on behalf of Conexión Américas to talk about all of Conexión Américas’ programs 

Attend and provide support, as needed, to organizational events and fundraisers

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience) 

This position works in a highly multilingual role, native level fluency in both English and Spanish is required. 

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field preferred 

Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish required, biculturalism required 

Experience managing teams or volunteers to develop, executive, and complete tasks, desired.

Flexibility, creativity, initiative and ability to work as a team member required 

Ability and comfort conducting interactive presentations in both English and Spanish 

Ability to interact with diverse groups of stakeholders required 

Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and strict timelinesrequired 

Ability and willingness to work weekly evenings events during the school year, 9-12 weeks per semester 

Ability and willingness to work occasional weekends required 

Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and database management required 

Reliable transportation required 

Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. required 

Demonstrated appreciation for Latino culture and people required 

Strong understanding of Latino culture and Latino issues in the US required

Salary and Benefits 

The salary ranges from $42,000 to $46,000, commensurate with experience and education.

Flexible 9-5pm schedule, with occasional evenings or Saturdays as needed
