Job Summary

Project Connect Nashville breaks the poverty cycle through relationships, resources, education, and connection to the faith community. 

The Benevolence Connector (BC) ministers to members of the community in a very tangible way by coordinating in-kind donations to be distributed and delivered to those in need. The BC builds relationships with clients in the process – encouraging them, inviting them into engagement and volunteer opportunities, and referring them back to the program staff for services, classes, etc. The BC also works with program staff to assist with other client-focused projects when necessary. The BC is a mobile position that coordinates efforts with program staff across all three PCN sites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Field all in-kind donation requests and schedule times for pickup
  • Pick up items and deliver to appropriate location – either storage or directly to client
  • Maintain and organize safe and accessible storage spaces
  • Communicate regularly with program staff to receive direction on what new residents need what furniture and to schedule delivery
  • Work with program staff to ensure basic needs are met for clients moving into housing
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to recruit pickup and delivery volunteers – those who have trucks and/or want to do manual work on specified days
  • Manage and organize volunteers on work days
  • Accurately document donations and provide receipts to donors
  • Connect in-kind donors to staff for follow-up – Volunteer Coordinators or Development Director
  • Invite clients into trusted relationship through encouragement, listening, and serving together (inviting clients to volunteer)
  • Walk with clients in their first few hours, days, and weeks to ensure they know expectations and their needs are being met
  • Provide mobile services to clients in cooperation with program staff
  • Refer clients back to program staff for services, classes, etc
  • Join Connection Management meetings to receive information about client needs that can be met through in-kind donations and mobile on-the-ground efforts, and to provide information and feedback on clients who have been receiving services and in relationship with the BC
  • While “in the field”, build relationships with community members to provide assistance, encouragement, and find new prospective clients
  • Attend PCN staff meetings
  • Additional duties, as assigned

  • Passionate about Christian ministry to the under-served and in full agreement with PCN’s mission and core values 
  • Excellent verbal communication
