Job Summary

The Turner Center at Martin Methodist College seeks to cultivate thriving rural communities in South Central Tennessee and beyond. Our work focuses in three program areas: cultivating rural church leaders, cultivating rural entrepreneurship, and cultivating access to healthcare and education. By connecting the resources of our college to faith communities, business leaders, and civic leaders, the Turner Center is becoming a national model for leading rural economic and community development.

The Associate Director for Programs and Development reports to the Executive Director of the Turner Center. They will work closely with the Executive Director to design, coordinate, and lead the programs of the Turner Center. Within the Turner Center, they will help to ensure all programs are aligned with the Turner Center’s mission and vision, and cultivate new opportunities for collaboration.

This position will have primary oversight of the Cultivating Rural Entrepreneurship focus area, which seeks to support small-business and social entrepreneurship in South-Central Tennessee. Through the formation of a new center, and by linking with existing programs at Martin Methodist College, this program area will provide technical skills trainings, work with business faculty to oversee a non-degree certificate program, and work with community partners to develop leadership training throughout the region.

Finally, the Associate Director will work closely with the Executive Director and Martin Methodist College leadership to develop and execute a fundraising plan to support our programs and expansion

Job Responsibilities

  • With the executive director, craft a strategic plan for the entrepreneurship center, in alignment with the Turner Center’s priorities and interests.
  • Oversee day to day administration of the entrepreneurship program area, including budgeting.
  • Create and execute programs that support entrepreneurship.
  • Work with existing stakeholders and identify new stakeholders for collaboration and to develop new initiatives.
  • With the Executive Director and college advancement team, support the expansion of new programs through donor identification, solicitation, and grant-writing.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead community programs with measurable goals.
  • Passion for the potential of rural communities.
  • Demonstrated record in fundraising and grant-writing.
  • A master’s degree in business, entrepreneurship, organizational leadership, or a related field.
  • 2 years’ experience and/or relevant coursework.
