Job Summary

Work closely with the Executive Director to oversee CMA Foundation (CMAF) and its collaboration with educational institutions and programs.  Cultivate music business pathways across the United States.  Oversee grant process including management of staff responsible for application review, awarding of grants, and grantee reporting.  Provide creative oversight over CMA Foundation PR, Marketing and content strategies and execution.  Work with finance to develop and track budgets for program area and individual project(s) within the CMAF portfolio. 

Job Responsibilities

Oversee all details and day-to-day management of CMAF Education Programming, including but not limited to:

  • Supervise staff working in the program area; define responsibilities, motivate staff, and foster professional development of individual staff members
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and management of music education programming including but not limited to Music Teachers of Excellence, Mentor M.E., collaboration with CMA events, and school visits
  • Supervise the design of workshops, convenings, conferences, and exploratory meetings within the music education arena
  • Expand outreach and involvement among key stakeholders including but not limited to teachers and nonprofit partners
  • Maintain regular communication with national teacher network through direct contact, email, and social media
  • Stay up-to-date on education, music and arts education, policy for the purpose of creating and speaking to current and relevant information
  • Identify and support the educational policies, programs, and structures that create positive conditions for the music education ecosystem
  • Serve as an external-facing spokesperson for CMAF
  • Work collaboratively with partner organizations to ensure the success of projects within our portfolio and to identify and develop new projects as needed or necessary
  • Establish and track key metrics to facilitate the quantitative analysis of program and event outcomes

Oversee CMAF Grants and Financial Administration including but not limited to:

 

  • Oversee the collection, maintenance and dissemination of grant partnerships, contracts and agreements
  • Assist ED with leadership, management and development of a CMAF grants strategy including personnel oversight
  • Oversee financial and accounting administration in compliance with audit procedures specific to CMAF status as a 501C3

Oversee CMAF Marketing & Communication including but not limited to: 

  • Work with CMAF leadership and communications team to raise the visibility of CMAF
  • Facilitate discussions with key stakeholders and other experts as needed to strengthen current initiatives and identify new areas of opportunity
  • In partnership with CMA marketing team and CMAF Executive Director, develop CMAF social media content strategy, bi-weekly email marketing strategy, and website oversight and oversee its execution
  • Collaborate with content producer on the creation of video and photo content and stories that drive growth, reach and engagement
  • Cultivate and maintain public awareness of CMAF operations and efforts
  • Oversee Artist Outreach including corresponding artist ambassador series and project manager on execution

Perform other Departmental Leadership Duties as assigned, including but not limited to:    

  • Assist Executive Director with management of Board of Directors
  • Partner with Executive Director and other team member(s) to identify and cultivate CMAF board members
  • Assist with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives as needed

Qualifications

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience with the United States public education system
  • Experience with music education
  • Experience and comfort with public speaking
  • Experience supervising other staff members
