The Micah Children’s Academy (Congregation Micah) provides a warm and thriving environment where children aged six weeks through Pre-K actively discover and expand their imagination and minds. Our school is conveniently located on a beautiful, lush, expansive property on the Williamson and Davidson County line, serving families of Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin, and beyond. We proudly serve up to 84 students in our full-day early learning center. Our students experience a values-based curriculum reflecting a Reggio Emilia style that focuses on the development of the whole child. At its core, the Micah Children’s Academy is a nurturing place where a love for lifelong learning is fostered. Children are engaged in enriching activities where they can create, problem solve, and discover the world through all their senses.

 

The Micah Children’s Academy is searching for an Assistant Director who is eager to make their mark on the lives of our students, their families, and our community. This individual should be a dynamic collaborator and leader with a background in early childhood education. A strong preference will be given to individuals who have management and/or mentoring experience. Our perfect candidate will not only align with The Micah Children’s Academy’s mission and educational philosophy but will also share in the joys that take place on our campus daily.

Job Responsibilities

What You Will Do

The Assistant Director will support and collaborate with the Academy Director in managing the day-to-day operations of the Micah Children’s Academy to ensure the quality of education for all children within the center’s care.
With the coordination of the Director, the Assistant Director will model and instruct Academy staff to ensure that state regulations are always met, developmentally appropriate practices are consistently utilized, and the school’s mission is maintained. The Assistant Director will work with the faculty of both the Academy and Congregation Micah to communicate consistent messaging to our families and the larger community using social media, internal newsletters, and community outreach efforts. The Assistant Director will join forces with the Director to enhance the quality of programming by sharing the responsibilities for staff supervision, programming, marketing, staff development, school mission and vision, and maintenance of all licensing requirements, as assigned.

  • Assume duties of Academy Director and Teachers as needed during their absence.
  • Collaborate with all staff to ensure the quality of programming meets the developmental needs of all children while adhering to best practices, the Academy philosophy, and licensure requirements
  • Maintain communication with families and community through appropriate outreach platforms and activities.
  • Content creation and publishing on social media platforms, Academy website, and other appropriate channels.
  • Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Serve as a leader and model for developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Work closely with the Academy Director and office manager to maintain all required staff and student files.
  • Collaborate with Congregation Micah staff to ensure consistency and quality of joint programming efforts.
  • Schedule and conduct tours with prospective families and lead new family orientation.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required by The Academy or state and local agencies.
  • Assist the Director with purchasing supplies, monthly expense reports, accounting, and record-keeping.
  • Assist in the organization and general operations of the Academy’s day-to-day
  • Event planning and organizing
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What You Will Bring to our School

  • 3 – 5 years of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Collaborative growth mindset and problem-solving tenacity
  • Ability to promote positive, constructive, and supportive relationships with parents, staff, and children.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of state rules and regulations
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Budgeting experience and ability to create and work with spreadsheets strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms
  • Ability to creatively produce digital newsletters, flyers, and other promotional materials
  • A strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong wiliness to create, improve upon and maintain working systems for required documents and files.
  • Must clear full background check.
  • Must pass a health screening.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or related field of study

Physical Requirements

Must pass physical as mandated by state regulations.
