Position: Art Studio Specialist/Artist in Residence
Summary: To coordinate art studio collaborations, provide weekly creative programming, supervise volunteers and maintain the Underground Art Studio & Social Media Studio at Oasis.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Partner with internal Oasis program leadership to create art and social media workshops for internal youth programs.
- Coordinate weekly or bi-weekly creative programming and calendar for teens with artist volunteers and Oasis staff.
- Coordinate the calendar of art studio volunteers in conjunction with Volunteer Coordinator.
- Provide and/or coordinate weekly and/or bi-weekly creativity workshops with exposure to jobs, careers, and entrepreneurial initiatives to earn money through fine art/commercial art.
- Provide creativity workshops as service projects that explore art as expression, activism and community building.
- Support youth while building positive relationships amongst teen and adult partners.
- Document participation and level of engagement to determine which workshops are most effective.
- Collaborate with art institutions, funders, artists and suppliers in the provision of art workshops/projects.
- Promote art studio in the community.
Qualifications
- Three years relevant experience or BA degree.
- Ability to form strong, caring and affirming relationships with all youth –including LGBTQ+ youth.
- Clear understanding of racial inequities and other forms of discrimination and willingness to operate from an anti-oppression model.
- Knowledge of an ability to apply Positive Youth Development, Trauma-Informed Care, and evidence-informed practices based in an understanding of adolescent development.
- Experience in working with teens in creative settings.
- Hands-on experience with creating art, crafts, podcasts, tik tok. Etc.
- Knowledge of various art practices and media.
- Knowledge and ability to reach digital audiences.
- Knowledge and ability to design and deliver workshops/sessions to teens and adults.
- Knowledge and ability to access and coordinate community resources.

PROPOSED WORK SCHEDULE AND RESIDENCY
This part-time position offers studio space that encourages the artist/staff person to produce their own work and display it, along with youth art, as appropriate. Material costs are the responsibility of the artist/staff person for their own art.
The studio may be used, with permission, for Oasis and Community sessions/space; however, programming is top priority with a maximum of 15 hours per week.
The artist resident/staff member is encouraged to use the studio as an incubator for productivity, forging relationships and finding inspiration.
