The Nonprofit Engagement Leader – AmeriCorps builds relationships with diverse nonprofits across Nashville to enhance the capacity of Hands On Nashville’s Community Partner Program, which delivers high-quality volunteer recruitment support to partnering agencies.
The Nonprofit Engagement Leader – AmeriCorps serves with a 30-member cohort of community-focused individuals who receive skills training, professional development, and networking opportunities through a partnership between Hands On Nashville and Hands On Nashville, Middle Tennessee’s volunteer resource center.

The Hands On Nashville AmeriCorps program is made possible through the support of the Dan and Margaret Maddox Fund, Volunteer Tennessee, and participating AmeriCorps host organizations.

Job Responsibilities

The Nonprofit Engagement Leader – AmeriCorps plays a critical role in ensuring the success of the Community Partner Program (CPP) at Hands On Nashville (HON). The CPP serves 200+ nonprofits, schools, and civic agencies that recruit volunteers via HON’s website. The CPP builds nonprofit capacity through training, volunteer recruitment, and volunteer-management support. The Leader will be a front-line point of contact for partner agencies, providing technical assistance, training, and recruitment support.

The ideal candidate is confident taking initiative, enjoys working with and translating data into new program ideas, and is tech savvy. The candidate should have strong interpersonal and customer-service skills, be comfortable with public speaking, and thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment. The member will gain experience working with nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies, as well as with database management, process improvement, communication, project management, and public speaking.

  • Increase efficiencies among staff and community partners to ensure effectiveness of HON’s tech and other services.
  • Create SOPs and best practices for staff and partners using HON’s database.
  • Review, edit, and approve volunteer opportunity postings on HON’s website.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective community partners, including phone communication, site visits, email inquiries, technology support, and participation in programming and special events.
  • Participate in HON’s disaster preparednesss and response work; collaborate with the Volunteer Project Manager and Disaster Program Manager to develop and conduct trainings and implement technology solutions to increase HON’s capacity to respond to disaste
  • Support other trainings, workshops and meetings that relate to volunteer engagement and management.
  • Conduct new partner onboarding trainings.

Qualifications

The Hands On Nashville AmeriCorps Program is designed for entry-level or experienced professionals interested in a career in nonprofit management. You have amazing skills. We will teach you how to put them to work for the greater good.

Minimum Requirements

  • Commitment to fulfill a one-year term of service (August 16, 2021 – July 29, 2022)
  • Bachelor’s Degree. Experience can be accepted in lieu of education;
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable access to transportation (Members will be reimbursed for service-related mileage.)
  • U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident
  • National Service Criminal History Check clearance 

Physical Requirements

Lift and carry up to 20-30lbs; Responsibilities in the position may entail sitting for extended periods of time; Responsibilities in this position may entail standing for extended periods of time.; Office or service environment is not wheelchair accessible; Office or service environment may include noisy environments.; Service responsibilities require moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.;
