Job Summary

The Adult Education Specialist is the lead presenter of child abuse prevention programming to adults in a variety of settings across both rural and suburban communities. The ability to work independently in communities of any type is a strength for the appropriate candidate. The Adult Education Specialist should also be able to communicate effectively to adults of varying ages, both regular education and those with various learning styles.

Job Responsibilities

The Adult Education Specialist will also:

  • Work with the remainder of the prevention and outreach team to design appropriate curricular offerings to a variety of audiences.
  • Be organized and efficient in planning and executing training programs as well as tracking and reporting relevant data, including for grant reporting.
  • Assist with trainings and other outreach activities on behalf of Davis House.
  • Participate in Davis House initiatives and activities.
  • Assist with other duties as determined by the Executive Director and/or Associate Director.

Qualifications

Educational and Professional Requirements:  B.S. Degree in Social Work, Child Development, Education, or other social services related field; experience working with children and families and in a team environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work well across disciplines
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Comfort in public speaking and adult learning pedagogy
  • Must work effectively with individuals from various economic, social, and cultural backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal skills with children, families, and community partners
  • Exceptional work ethic and professionalism
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Knowledgeable of impacts of trauma on children and families

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of evidence-based educational curricula
  • Knowledge of the research about and interplay of child abuse, neglect, and trauma
  • Understanding of community-based resources and community networking practice

Benefits

Davis House will consider full-time (36) hours for this Adult Education Specialist position. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with Davis House policies. The compensation package includes salary and generous Davis House-approved benefits.

Davis House requires all staff to be fully vaccinated (two shots + one booster) for COVID-19.
