Job Summary
This dual-role position combines administrative support with direct classroom instruction. The ideal candidate will assist with a variety of administrative tasks, support program staff, as well as, planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate educational content to our students. You will play a vital role in ensuring that our afterschool program runs smoothly and that our students receive the high-quality enrichment experiences they deserve. The candidate needs to be highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in both an office and classroom environment within the non-profit sector.
Job Responsibilities
Administrative Support:
- Data Management: Track student enrollment, attendance, and program data; prepare reports and assist with budget monitoring.
- Office Management: Handle routine office tasks including answering phones and maintaining files.
- Program Coordination: Assist in organizing meetings, events, and special projects; coordinate logistics for program activities.
Program & Classroom Support:
- Lesson Planning: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and activities that align with our educational objectives and assist with technology setup.
- Instruction & Facilitation: Deliver instruction in a classroom setting using a variety of teaching strategies. Help plan, organize, and execute afterschool events, workshops, and enrichment activities.
- Behavior Management: Implement classroom management techniques to maintain an orderly and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Assessment & Feedback: Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with staff to support student achievement.
- Volunteer & Participant Coordination: Maintain databases and communicate with program participants, volunteers, and families to ensure smooth program operations.
- Educational Support: Collaborate with the Executive Director to support curriculum development and classroom management as needed.
General Support:
- Marketing & Outreach: Assist with basic marketing tasks, such as updating social media, drafting newsletters, and contributing to promotional material. Also, support special projects and initiatives as directed by the Executive Director.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in administrative support, ideally within a non-profit or educational setting.
- Experience working with diverse groups including students, parents, and community stakeholders is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable interfacing with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Tech Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with database management; strong familiarity with social media platforms and basic digital marketing tools is a must.
- Interpersonal Skills: Warm, approachable, and professional demeanor with a strong team orientation.
- Adaptability: Flexible and proactive in responding to evolving priorities and responsibilities.
