Job Summary
Nashville CARES is a leading non-profit agency in Middle Tennessee seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist who is looking to make an impact in the community. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.
Job Responsibilities
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounts payable processes for the agency in a timely manner
- Record all company credit card expenses and employee expense reports; obtain required documentation for those expense transactions according to company policy
- Record all electronic payments made outside of the accounting system
- Collect and process monthly employee mileage reports
- Maintain electronic expense documentation (invoices, expense reports, etc.)
- Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures
- Act as a liaison for vendors to reconcile any billing discrepancies
- Obtain vendor W-9s as needed
- Assist in resolving older outstanding checks
- Prepare special reports and complete special projects
Qualifications
Required
- Associate’s degree in accounting or relevant experience
- Minimum 1-year experience as a junior accountant or 3-years as an AP clerk
- Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
- Good with numbers and figures, analytical acumen, and excellent attention to detail
- Able to multi-task and prioritize work effectively
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with computer software
- Valid Tennessee Driver’s License and automobile liability insurance
Preferred
- Experience with MIP software
