YNP Happy Hour: Strategic Volunteering to Advance Your Career (virtual networking event)

Registration is closed for this event
Young Nonprofit Professionals is a free virtual networking group comprised of diverse Middle Tennessee young professionals supporting or working in the nonprofit sector. Our objective is to provide an inclusive space where emerging leaders can share resources, encouragement, and learning opportunities.

Event Description:

Work experience is critical to moving forward in your career. But did you know that you can also gain many valuable job skills through strategic volunteering? Skills like leadership, public speaking, project management, and communications help you become a better employee in any profession - and make you a more qualified and desirable candidate for your next promotion!

On June 28th, join CNM and Hands On Nashville as we delve into the many professional and personal growth benefits of volunteering in your community. During this session, you’ll learn how to identify the skills you need to grow your career and how you can match these skills with strategic volunteer opportunities through the Hands On Nashville volunteer portal.

Event Speakers:

Mary Wessel is the Corporate and Community Engagement Manager for Hands On Nashville, leading HON’s fundraising and supporting corporations and communities’ volunteer efforts. Prior to Hands On Nashville, Mary advised hospitals and health systems through crises, transactions, and culture transformation at a healthcare communications firm, Jarrard Phillips Cate & Hancock. Volunteering paved the way for her to earn her master’s in social work after time in the public relations industry. In addition to her role at Hands On Nashville, Mary also serves as a board member for STARS, a Nashville nonprofit that provides school and community-based mental health services.

Structure:

  • 4:00 pm - Introductions
  • 4:10 pm - Program & Discussion
  • 4:50 pm - Open Floor to Share Community Events & Updates
  • 5:00 pm - Networking in Breakout Rooms

As always, these networking events are designed to be interactive and FUN sessions.
