Racism and Racialized Health Disparities [DEI Workshop – FREE to Members] – (Online Classroom)

This informative workshop offers an overview of the levels of racism, racialized health disparities, and their social, historical, and political causes. Participants will learn the different ways racism is operationalized, discuss racism as a fundamental cause of health disparities, and explore the pathways that connect racism to poor health outcomes. We will explore core tenets of Critical Race Theory (CRT) and antiracism principles, with discussion on how to begin applying these tools to dismantle racism.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the levels of racism (institutionalized, personally mediated, and internalized)
  • Connect racialized health disparities to their social, historical, and political causes 
  • Recognize racism as a fundamental cause of health disparities and explore the pathways that connect racism to poor health outcomes
  • Strategize on applying Critical Race Theory (CRT) and antiracism principles in our work to reduce health disparities 

Note: This workshop can be used as an elective for all CNM Certificate programs requiring additional electives for completion.
